Nicholas De Moels was born about 1195 in Cadbury Manor, Cadbury, Somersetshire, England. He married Hawise De Newmarche of Cadbury Somersetshire, England about 1224. He died sometime after 1264 but sometime before 1272.

He was Constable of Dover Castle, and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports by 1258.

About 1264 Nicholas de Moels served as the Sheriff of Kent, York, Southampton, his honours extending to the positions of Sheriff of Hants, Devon, Constable of Pembroke, Haverford, Kilgarran, Tenby, Rochester, Canterbury, Winchester, & Corfe.

Children by Hawise De Newmarche:

Roger de Moels was born about 1237, he was appointed Marshal of the Army, and wed Alice Prouz/Preux. Roger de Moels was also a Governor of the castle of Lampsdervour, Cardiganshire, Wales. He died in 1294.

James de Moels was born about 1254 at Chidecot, Lew, Exbourne Devonshire, England.
Maud de Moels was born about 1258 at Chidecot. She married to Richard de Lorti.

John who was born in 1269, the son of Roger de Moels became 1st Lord Moels (1269-1310), he died on the 20th of May, 1310. He was married to Maud Grey about 1272. His son became Sir John de Moels 4th Lord Moels: (1293-1337).
