Peter Thomas Wanless CB is an English Chief Executive Officer and former civil servant.

Early life

Following education at Sheldon School, Chippenham, Wiltshire he undertook a Bachelor of Arts in International History and Politics at University of Leeds, graduating in 1986.[1] He has since studied on the Advanced Management Programme at Insead.[1]

Career

Since 2013, he has been the CEO of NSPCC.[2] He was previously Chief Executive of the Big Lottery Fund, and held senior positions within the Department for Education and Skills and its successor the Department for Children, Schools and Families.[3][4]

In 2014, it was announced that he would be leading a review into historical sex abuse claims. [5]

Wanless is a lifelong supporter of Somerset County Cricket Club where he serves on the board, and of Welling United.[6]
