12 Monkeys 1995 James Cole, a convicted criminal in a post-apocalyptic Earth, is repeatedly sent back in time to save the world from a virus that eradicated most of the world's population. The film was inspired by the 1962 short film La Jetée.[1][2]
12:01 1993 Office worker Barry Thomas is forced to relive the worst day of his life.[3] Based on the 25-minute 12:01 PM.[citation needed]
12:01 PM 1990 This is the first film adaptation of the short story "12:01 PM" by Richard A. Lupoff, which was published in 1973 in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. It originally aired on cable television as part of the Showtime 30-Minute Movie anthology series. It was nominated for an Academy Award.[4]
The Butterfly Effect 2004 Evan Treborn frequently suffers from blackouts and discovers he can time travel by reading his journal.[5]
Camp Slaughter 2005 A slasher film in which a group of present day teenagers are sent back to 1981, and discover a summer camp which is stuck reliving the day a demented killer went on a rampage. Jeremy Wheeler of AllRovi referred to it as "Groundhog Day meets Friday the 13th".[6]
Christmas Do-Over 2006 In this movie starring Jay Mohr, a remake of Christmas Every Day, a father has to repeat Christmas Day over and over until he realizes how selfish he has become and changes his ways.[7]
Christmas Every Day 1996 An American television movie based on William Dean Howells's 1892 short story "Christmas Every Day". A selfish teenager is forced to relive the same Christmas every day.[8][9]
Déjà Vu 2006 ATF Special Agent Doug Carlin is sent to investigate a terrorist attack and discovers a group of scientists with a time window to assist the investigation.[10]
Donnie Darko 2001 Donnie Darko, a troubled teenager, is approached by a figure in a monstrous rabbit costume, who tells him the world will end in 28 days.[1][2] He must unknowingly relive about a month of his life in order to save his family.
Edge of Tomorrow 2014 Lt. Col. William "Bill" Cage and Special Forces soldier Rita Vrataski team up to fight a hostile alien race known as Mimics, with Cage continually returning to a repeating battle through a time loop.[11]
Frequency 2000 Homicide detective John Sullivan is investigating a serial killer. An electrical storm allows him to communicate with the past through radio. He is able to contact his late father and attempts to stop the serial killer in both the past and present.[12]
È Già Ieri (Stork Day) 2004 An Italian television star who is filming a documentary in Tenerife relives August 13 over and over. Based on Groundhog Day.[13][14]
Groundhog Day 1993 Self-centered meteorologist Phil Connors is forced to relive the same day over and over again.[10][15]

Looper 2012 Joe is a contract killer sent victims from a future in which time travel is illegal, but has to kill his future self when his contract ends.[2][21]
+1 (Plus One) 2013 College-age party-goers encounter their duplicates and repeated incidents as well as sex and death after a meteorite lands near the house. The film was a New York Times Critic Pick.[22]
Primer 2004 Two scientists accidentally discover time travel and use it to make money in the stock market, with unforeseen consequences, in this story about the betrayal of friendship.[2]
Repeat Performance 1947 Film noir meets science fiction when a woman shoots her husband on New Year's Eve, 1946, then wishes that she could live the year all over again. Will she make the same choice a second time?[23][24]
Repeaters 2010 A group of inmates at a rehabilitation facility are forced to repeat the same day over and over again.[25]
Retroactive 1997 A psychiatrist makes multiple trips through time to save a woman who was murdered by her husband.[26][27]
Run Lola Run (Original title: Lola Rennt) 1998 A German film written and directed by Tom Tykwer, starring Franka Potente. Lola needs to get a lot of cash fast to save her boyfriend's life and has three chances to do so, each chance occurring during the same hours of the same day. Can she be clever enough, and can she run fast enough? The film holds a 93% "Fresh" rating on aggregate review site Rotten Tomatoes.[28] Roger Ebert wrote, "Run Lola Run is essentially a film about itself, a closed loop of style. Movies about characters on the run usually involve a linear story (The Fugitive comes to mind), but this one is basically about running--and about the way that movie action sequences have a life and logic of their own."[29]
Salvage 2006 Claire encounters horror and murder after finishing a day working at a convenience store, not once but many times. An official selection of the 2006 Sundance Festival.[30]

Directed by Mario Philip Azzopardi, the movie features Casper Van Dien, as well as Martin Sheen in a small role.[31][32]
The Time Travelers 1964 Scientists find their time-viewing screen allows them to travel through time; they become stranded in a post-apocalypse future. An adventure film directed by B-movie director Ib Melchior that inspired the 1966 TV series The Time Tunnel as well as the 1967 remake Journey to the Center of Time.[33][34]

Triangle 2009 A group of friends go on boat trip and become stranded due to a storm. They discover a cruise ship which causes them to experience a series of repeating events.[2]
Turn Back the Clock 1933 Only a single time loop is needed for Joe to wish that he could relive his life and marry the wealthy woman. When he has the chance to go through his life again, he has interesting discoveries and decisions. Reviewer Hal Erickson wrote, "One morning, Tracy [who plays character Joe Gimlet] wakes up and discovers he's been transported twenty years in the past. Armed with foreknowledge of future events, Tracy determines to correct his mistakes and become what he considers a success."[36][37]
12 Dates of Christmas 2011 Kate finds herself reliving Christmas Eve (including a blind date with a man named Miles) over and over again. She must discover how to break the cycle – should she attempt to win back her ex-boyfriend Jack, or should she pursue Miles, or something else? The reviewer for Us Weekly wrote, "This holiday romance steals a page from Groundhog Day and runs with it. On Christmas Eve, misguided Kate (Amy Smart), still pining for her ex, ditches her dreamboat blind date (Mark-Paul Gosselaar). Then, for some magical reason, she keeps waking up to relive that day -- and reset her priorities. It's a sweet, wacky ... and nicely woven journey..."[38]
