Raja Rani (English: King, Queen) is an upcoming Tamil romantic comedy film directed by debutant Atlee Kumar, who previously worked with Shankar as an assistant in Enthiran (2010) and produced by A. R. Murugadoss in association with Fox Star Studios.[1] The film features Arya, Nayantara, Jai, Sathyaraj, Santhanam and Nazriya Nazim in the lead roles.[2] The film is scheduled to release in September 2013.[3]

Production

Casting

Initially it was rumored that Priya Anand was considered for the lead role.[4] But later it was announced that Nayantara would pair up with her Boss Engira Bhaskaran costar Arya in this film.[5] Jai is also doing a pivoted role in this film.[6] Sathyaraj, Santhanam and Sathyan will play vital roles in this movie.[7] The film has music by G. V. Prakash Kumar, art direction by T. Muthuraj and cinematography by debutant George, a former associate of Nirav Shah.[8]

Filming

The film began its first schedule at a bungalow in Greams road, Chennai.[9] Kamal Haasan switched on the camera and a song picturizing Jai and Nayanthara was canned on the occasion.[10] The sequence involving Jai and Nayantara will be canned first and Arya will join the team after he completes his work on Irandam Ulagam.[11]

Marketing

A first official film teaser showing the lead pair quarreling through their projections in a mirror, was released on May 11 by Fox Star Studios.[12] The teaser went instantly viral garnering a large number of views. [13]

The official trailer was released along with the music album on 23rd August 2013.[14] The trailer received tremendous response.[15]
