He worked in the [[University of Wales]] and [[Leeds Polytechnic]] before moving to the [[University of Birmingham]] where he was Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Special Educational Needs and Educational Psychology.

Graham Upton (born 30 April 1944) is acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Cumbria.

He was born in Birmingham but moved to and was educated in Australia, where he taught in secondary and special schools before moving back to the UK in 1972. He worked in the University of Wales and Leeds Polytechnic before moving to the University of Birmingham where he was Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Special Educational Needs and Educational Psychology.

He then accepted a post in September 1997 at Oxford Brookes University where he was the Vice-Chancellor until he retired in August 2007 to be succeeded by Professor Janet Beer.

On 21 May 2010, Professor Upton was appointed the interim Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cumbria.[1]

He was appointed High Sheriff of Oxfordshire for 2013–14.
