Chaarulatha is a 2012 Indian bilingual horror film directed by Pon Kumaran, a former associate to K. Bhagyaraj and K. S. Ravikumar, featuring Priyamani in the lead role.[1] This project is an adaptation of the Thai horror film Alone.[2] Sundar C Babu will score the music for this film.[3] The film’s story is about twins who are born conjoint.[4][5]

Cast

Development

Inspired by a Thai horror, the film will have Priyamani playing the lead role.[6] Malayalam actor Skandha will play the male protagonist. Actors such as Saranya Ponvannan, Seetha and Vettaikaran Sai Sasi will be doing crucial roles.[7] Yoganand, Shabari and Kalidas have penned the dialogues. The budget of the film was reported to be 6 crore (US$720,000).[6]

Filming

The film went on the floor on Ugadi festival day at Kanteerava studio Bangalore.[8]

Release

The movie is almost over and plans are on to release it on 14th September 2012.'Charulatha' is produced by Global One Studios. Hansraj Saxena with his new banner SAX PICTRES has acquired the distribution rights for tamil from Global One.

The film is being simultaneously made in Kannada and Tamil.[6] While the Malayalam version will be dubbed from the Kannada original,the Telugu version is dubbed from the Tamil print.[6][9] The Tamil version received a "U" (Universal) certificate, while the Kannada version received "U/A" (Parental Guidance).[10]
