The following is a list of characters that appear in the Animal Crossing franchise.

Player

The Player is a term used for a human character in the Animal Crossing series that is controlled by the player. The player's default language is Animalese.

Animals

Moles

  • Mr. Resetti - Mr. Resetti is a mole. He would often scold the players whenever the reset too much to stop the game without saving.
  • Don Resetti - Don Resetti is a mole who works at the Reset Intervention Bureau (which was later renamed the Resetti Surveillance Center) and is the younger brother of Mr. Resetti. Unlike his older brother, Don would advise the player to save their progress.
  • Blathers - Blathers is an owl scholar who is the curator of the local museum and is the older brother of Celeste. He accepts donations of fish, insects, fossils, and paintings. He is very knowledgeable and informative, usually giving information on any object donated to the museum, and he will often apologize for his lengthy explanation.
  • Celeste - Celeste is an owl who works in the museum's observatory and is the younger sister of Blathers. Unlike her brother, Celeste is a sensitive, calm, and quiet character.
  • Pelly - Pelly is a female pelican who works at the local post office and is the younger sister of Phyllis. She works as a clerk during her daytime shift.
  • Pete - Pete is a pelican who works as a mail carrier. When the player earns his trust, he will tell them his romances of Pelly and Phyllis
  • Phyllis - Phyllis is a female pelican who works at the local post officer and is the older sister of Pelly. She works as a clerk during her nighttime shift. While Pelly enjoys her shift, Phyllis does not enjoy her shift.
  • Mabel Able - Mabel is a porcupine who is the co-owner of the Able Sisters' Tailor Shop and is the younger sister of Sable. She is the charismatic one out of the sisters, who assists customers with their purchases.
  • Sable Able - Sable is a porcupine who is the co-owner of the Able Sisters' Tailor Shop and is the older sister of Mable. She is a shy character who works in the background while her sister assists the customers.
  • Tom Nook - Tom Nook is a tanuki. He would sell the player a house at the beginning of the series and give them a set of mortgages for them to pay and allow them to upgrade it after the mortgage is paid off.
  • Timmy and Tommy - Timmy and Tommy are twin tanuki's who work at Tom Nook's Store. They look after the upper floor of Nookington's (the final stage in the upgrades for Nook's store).

Villagers

The following do not fit the categories of the other animals listed:

  • Brewster - Brewster is a pigeon who works on the lower floor of the museum. He is quiet reserved pigeon with an interest in coffee. Brewster also has an interest in collecting gyroid furniture.
  • Chip - Chip is a beaver who hosts the fishing tournaments every Sunday.
  • Dr. Shrunk - Dr. Shrunk is an Axolotl who works as a psychologist. He helps the players into getting in touch with their emotional side.
  • Farley - Farley is an unspecified humanoid creature (speculated to be a troll or a gnome) who lives in the wishing well. When the player has perfected the town, Farley will emerge and give the player a golden axe.
  • Franklin - Franklin is a turkey. Whenever a harvest festival begins, Franklin would go into hiding until the players find him.
  • Frillard - Frillard (AKA Master Frillard) is a frill-necked lizard who is known to help the player get in touch with emotions that are unknown to Dr. Shrunk. The villagers claim that Frillard is Dr. Shrunk's teacher.
  • Gracie - Gracie is a giraffe who works as a fashion designer. She would occasionally appear in undeveloped towns and impact the lives of the fashion-conscious villagers.
  • Jack - Jack is a pumpkin-headed spectre who would appear in town on Halloween. In exchange for candy, Jack would give the player any spooky furniture.
  • Jingle - Jingle is a reindeer who would appear on Christmas Eve.
  • Joan - Joan is a boar who comes to the player's town every Sunday morning to sell different-colored turnips.
  • K.K. Slider - K.K. Slider is a dog who works as a musician.
  • Kapp'n - Kapp'n is a kappa who is a sailor by nature and is a driver of various modes of transportation. He has rowed boats, driven taxi cabs, and has also driven buses.
  • Lyle - Lyle is a weasel who is an insurance agent who would sell insurance and give refunds on forged paintings. In later games, Lyle works at the Happy Room Academy in the city.
  • Mayor Tortimer - Mayor Tortimer is a very old tortoise who is the mayor of the town that the players move in to. He would appear during holidays celebrating or giving out holiday-based prizes.
  • Pascal - Pascal is a sea otter who works as a philosopher. Pascal is known for his philosophical tendencies, making him well known amongst the villagers in the player's town. Most of his philosophy is marine-themed.
  • Pavé - Pavé is a peacock who works as a dancer that appears on the holiday Festivale. Even though he is male, Pavé is often mistaken for a female due to his looks.
  • Phineas - Phineas is a sea lion that is often found in the city. He gives the player special hand-held items that the player cannot get anywhere else, for no purpose other than for joy and for free.
  • Porter - Porter is a monkey who runs the train station. He coordinates transportation between villages.
  • Redd - Redd is an untrustworthy kitsune who runs an illicit furniture store call "Crazy Redd's." Red also sells counterfeit paintings and overpriced items at his store. Redd is also a rival of Tom Nook.
  • Saharah - Saharah is a dromedary that specializes in trading rare carpets and wallpaper.
  • Wendell - Wendell is a walrus who works as a traveling artist. He carries around a canvas and a traveler's backpack with him.
  • Zipper T. Bunny - Zipper T. Bunny is a human in a rabbit suit who would appear on the holiday Bunny Day.

Cranky Villagers

The Cranky Villagers are male villagers that are often irritated or annoyed easily. Among the Cranky Villagers are:

  • Admiral - An unidentified bird.
  • Flash - An unidentified bird.
  • Joe - An unidentified bird.
  • Kabuki - A cat.
  • Murphy - A bear cub.
  • Pigleg - A pig. He loves oranges and is allergic to peaches.
  • Rasher - A pig.
  • Twirp - An unidentified bird.
  • Vladimir - A bear cub.

Lazy Villagers

The Lazy Villagers are the male villagers who have a relaxed laid-back lifestyle. Among the Lazy Villagers are:

  • Anchovy - An unidentified bird.
  • Biskit - A dog.
  • Jakoten - An unidentified bird.
  • Marcel - A dog.
  • Otis - An unidentified bird.
  • Pierre - A cat.
  • Punchy - A cat.
  • Spork - A pig. He is known as Crackle in the Australian and British versions.
  • Stitches - A bear cub.
  • Walker - A dog.

Jock Villagers

The Jock Villagers are the male villagers who are athletic. Among the Jock Villagers are:

  • Jay - An unidentified bird.
  • Jitters - An unidentified bird.
  • Kid Cat - A cat.
  • Poncho - A bear cub.
  • Shoukichi - An unidentified bird.
  • Stinky - A cat.

Snooty Villagers
