Leanne Mitchell is a English singer known for winning the first series of The Voice UK.
Early life
Born in Lowestoft, Suffolk in 1984,[1] she was educated at Benjamin Britten High School in Lowestoft.
Aged 15 she started performing at Potters holiday camp, taking to the stage at its annual shows ever since. Offered a recording contract in the same year, for many reasons she turned it down. She writes music, sings, and plays piano and the organ.
The Voice UK
In her Blind Audition, she sang Beyoncé’s If I Were A Boy, and both Sir Tom Jones and Danny turned around. After some deliberation, she took her place on Sir Tom’s team. [2] Mitchell made it to the final, beating favourite Ruth Brown in the semi-final. She then won the final which took place on 2nd June, beating Tyler James, Vince Kidd and Bo Bruce.[3] Mitchell released her winner's single which is a cover of Whitney Houston's Run To You on 3 June 2011.
