Untitled

Thank You Allah is the first studio album by Muslim Swedish singer Maher Zain. The album was released on November 1, 2009 by Awakening Records, with 13 songs and two bonus tracks. Maher's debut album is accompanied by three singles, each with its own music video. The album has achieved eight-time platinum sales record in Malaysia.[1] Maher produced this album with Swedish producer from Bilal Hajji, who wrote Usher's song More and Jennifer Lopez's song On the Floor.[citation needed]

In September 2011, Maher Zain received a nomination in the 18th Anugerah Industri Muzik, a Malaysian music award ceremony. He was nominated in the "Foreign Artist" category for his single Insha Allah (Malay). The success of the song in Malaysia has allowed him to be short-listed in Lagu Bahasa Melayu Terbaik Dipersembahkan oleh Artis Luar Negara (Best Malay Song Performed by a Foreign Artist) category.[citation needed] The eventual winner in November 2011 was "Me Waiting" by Indonesian singer Rossa.[2]

Music videos

  • The music video for 'Palestine Will Be Free' was released on August 1, 2009. It is the first animated peace music video for Palestine and also the first animated video ever made by a Muslim artist.[citation needed] The video features the story of a young brave Palestinian girl who never loses hope for a better future despite the harsh realities surrounding her.[3] Since its official release, the music video has garnered more than 2.6 million views on YouTube.[4] The video was directed by Andrew Morgan for Chase Animation.[citation needed]
  • The "Insha Allah" music video was released on May 1, 2010. Awakening Records produced it in four languages, with the English version being used as the official music video. Awakening Records then released the video in Arabic, French and Turkish. The music video has gained more than 12 million views since it was premiered on YouTube.[5] It was directed by Mike Harris and features Serena Williams.[6] The song is also available in a Malay version. Another version of the music video featuring 'Fadly' from the Padi was released on June 15, 2011. The video was taken from Maher's concert at Malaysia, while Maher introduced the song to his fans.[citation needed] Fadly sings some of his verse in Bahasa Indonesia while Maher sings his verse in English.
  • The music video for "The Chosen One" was released on August 1, 2010. This music video serves as a tribute to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. It has received more than 4.1 million views on YouTube.[7] and was video directed by Lena Khan.[8] The video featured this spiritual acknowledgement at the end: "All acts of kindness in this video have been inspired by the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)".[7]
  • The music video for "Ya Nabi Salam Alayka" will be released by early Ramadhan, after Maher announced it on the promo of the music video on 28th July 2011 at YouTube.[9] The official music video was released on August 13 2011 and directed by Hamza Jamjoum.[10] The video is also available in Arabic and Turkish.[citation needed]
  • The video for "For The Rest Of My Life" was released on 27 September 2011.[citation needed]
