* Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) - The stalwart leader of the Autobots. Originally known as Orion Pax, Optimus transforms into a long nose red and blue semi-trailer truck similar to what he transformed into in the Michael Bay live-action films. Optimus Prime has a human-looking mouth, as he did in Transformers: Cybertron, Animated and Michael Bay's films, unlike the smooth face plate in the original series; Optimus deploys the face plate over his mouth during battle. As told in Alex Irvine's Transformers: Exodus novel (which is set in the same franchise and continuity as Transformers: Prime), Optimus was once associated with Megatron. When it came to the awakening of Unicron, Optimus Prime uses the Matrix of Leadership's power to deactivate Unicron which also cost Optimus Prime his memories which caused him to think that he is Orion Pax again. Megatron takes the opportunity to have Optimus Prime to retreat back to the Decepticon ship.
* Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) - The noble and chivalrous leader of the Autobots, who transforms into a red and blue long-nose semi-trailer truck, similar to Optimus' vehicle mode in the live-action films. Before the Great Autobot-Decepticon War, Optimus was a data clerk named Orion Pax until he was granted the Matrix of Leadership by Primus (which contained the collective wisdom of The Primes) and took the role of Autobot leader.

* Arcee (voiced by Sumalee Montano) - A female Autobot who transforms into a motorcycle, like in most modern incarnations of Arcee. Although Arcee was originally pink in the original franchise and other various television incarnations of Transformers, Arcee's color scheme was changed to blue. This change resembles the character Chromia, another female Autobot. Arcee is the smallest and most agile of the Autobot team. She was traumatized by the female spider-like Decepticon Airachnid who killed her partner Tailgate, and is gravely affected by the later death of her next partner Cliffjumper. She is assigned to be Jack Darby's Autobot guardian, and convinces him to rejoin Team Prime when he wants out. Arcee later had another encounter with an Ex-Decepticon, Airachnid when she arrives on Earth. After a long battle, Arcee was able to defeat Airachnid, but Airachnid escaped, again. She is the only character to appear in all episodes.
* Arcee (voiced by Sumalee Montano) - A female Autobot who transforms into a blue motorcycle. She is assigned to be Jack Darby's Autobot guardian in episode 2, "Darkness Rising, Part 2", and is the only character that has appeared in every single episode of the series so far.

* Bumblebee - An Autobot scout who transforms into a yellow sports car named an 'Urbana 500' (a completely fictional make and model), that resembles Bumblebee's Chevrolet Camaro vehicle mode from the live-action films. As in the films, Bumblebee is unable to speak, this lack of speech was caused by Megatron tearing out Bumblebee's voice box in an interrogation attempt during the war, and ever since he has communicated through a series of electronic sound effects, similar to R2-D2 from the Star Wars franchise. He is the Autobot guardian for Raf Esquivel, who is the only human in the series able to understand his alternative speech patterns.
* Bumblebee - An Autobot scout who transforms into a yellow Chevrolet Camaro similar to the live-action films, except with a shaker hood. As in the films, Bumblebee communicates through electronic sound effects rather than specific human languages. He is partnered with Raf Esquivel, who appears to be the only human able to understand him. It is revealed in "Out of His Head" that Bumblebee drives Raf to school everyday. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 1, it was revealed that during the Cybertronian War, Bumblebee was captured by the Decepticons at Tiger Pax and tortured for information which led to Bumblebee's voice box getting damaged. When Bumblebee was rescued, Ratchet did his best to repair Bumblebee. In the present, Bumblebee's Transformation Cog was stolen by M.E.C.H. when they ambushed him rendering him unable to Transform. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 2, Bumblebee learns from Agent Fowler on where M.E.C.H. is. Upon doing the transfusion of the Energon into the prototype, the base is attacked by Bumblebee. After Bumblebee is shot by Starscream, Silas orders a retreat telling Starscream to secure the Transformation Cog. Starscream then threatens Bumblebee not to move or he will shoot his Transformation Cog. Despite the Transformation Cog being damaged, Bumblebee's Transformation Cog was retrieved and reinserted into Bumblebee who manages to transform again.

* Bulkhead (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) - An Autobot who transforms into a large, green SUV. During the war he was a member of a commando unit called 'The Wreckers', along with his friend Wheeljack. He is partnered with Miko Nakadai and acts as her protector, but often ends up as a foil to Miko's boisterous personality and reckless actions. Bulkhead is based on the Transformers Animated character of the same name and like the Animated version, his appearance is highly inspired by Thing from the Fantastic Four.
* Bulkhead (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) - A member of the Autobots who transforms into a giant green ATV pickup. He was a member of the Wreckers alongside Wheeljack. He is partnered with Miko Nakadai and acts as her protector (which is a good thing considering her adventurousness & reckless personality). He also has shown a dislike towards "jerks" like Agent Fowler and Vince, and was content to leave them to their doom. Like Ratchet, Bulkhead's appearance is similar to the Transformers Animated character, though his personality is slightly different. Like his Animated self, his appearance is highly inspired by the Marvel Comics character, The Thing. Bulkhead has a habit of breaking things (he usually breaks Ratchet's needed items), as he is very clumsy. Bulkhead left the Wreckers in order to join Optimus Prime on his journey to leave Cybertron.

* Ratchet (voiced by Jeffrey Combs) - An Autobot medic who transforms into a white and red ambulance. His design, along with his grouchy, no-nonsense attitude are similar to the Transformers Animated version of Ratchet. He appears to be second in command of the Autobots on earth, as he often leads the team when Optimus Prime isn't around. Optimus often refers to Ratchet as an "old friend" as they have known each other since long before the war, when Optimus was still Orion Pax.
* Ratchet (voiced by Jeffrey Combs) - The Autobots' team medic who transforms into a white and red hybrid ambulance. His appearance and attitude is similar to his Transformers Animated character. A running gag is Ratchet yelling "I needed that!" since his needed items are often broken. He appears to be second in command of the Autobots on earth, as he often leads them when Optimus isn't around, and Optimus himself opens up to Ratchet first upon the death of Megatron. In fact, Optimus refers to Ratchet as "old friend" and it is hinted that he has known Optimus while he was still Orion Pax. At first, Ratchet has no interest in the Autobot's human friends. But, as time goes by he grows to accept them; growing closest Raf. Indeed, Ratchet is visibily upset when Raf is exposed to dark Energon and got gravely ill as a result. Ratchet also regrets never having studied human science or medicine as he is unable to fully understand Raf problem, but hits upon a solution. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 1, it was revealed that Ratchet had fixed Bumblebee after he was tortured for information. Ratchet blames himself for being unable to fix Bumblebee's voice box. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 2, Ratchet suggests to Optimus Prime that he could donate his Transformation Cog in order to make Bumblebee transform again.

* Wheeljack (voiced by James Horan) - Bulkhead's best friend from Cybertron, a former member of The Wreckers, and a master swordsman. His design is similar to the Generation 1 version of Wheeljack, even more so when he deploys a face plate over his mouth in battle. In "Con Job", Wheeljack visits Earth while journeying across space, but is captured by the Decepticons. He quickly escapes though, and helps defeat Makeshift, a Decepticon spy disguised as him. Optimus Prime later offers Wheeljack a spot on the team, but he declines, wishing to see more of the galaxy. However, he will return in episode 6 of season 2. While Wheeljack has so far never been seen transforming into anything in the show, the action figure transforms into a white, red, and green sports car resembling the Lancia Stratos that was the vehicle form of the G1 Wheeljack.
* Wheeljack (voiced by James Horan) - Bulkhead's best friend, who nicknames him "Jackie", from Cybertron, a former member of the Wreckers, and a master swordsman. Wheeljack's appearance is similar to his Generation 1 counterpart, even more so when he deploys a face plate over his mouth in battle like Optimus. In "Con Job" he is captured by Starscream, but managed to escape and help defeat Makeshift, a Decepticon spy who pretended to be him. He was offered a spot on Team Prime, but didn't take it because he wanted to see more of the galaxy and find any other surviving Autobots. Wheeljack is scheduled to return in later episodes.

* Cliffjumper (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) - A brash and hot-headed Autobot, and Arcee's most recent partner. He transforms into a red muscle car resembling a First Generation Dodge Challenger, decorated with bull horns on the hood. In the first scenes of "Darkness Rising" Pt. 1, he is captured and killed by Starscream, and in episode 2, the Decepticons use his dead body to test the effects of Dark Energon, the substance turning the body into a ravenous zombie. Cliffjumper will only appear in flashbacks from now on, and so far, he has appeared in one of Arcee's flashbacks in "Predatory", albeit with no dialogue.
* Cliffjumper (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) - Arcee's partner who transforms into a red Dodge Challenger decorated with bull horns on the hood. In the first episode, he is captured and killed by Starscream, and his body is sliced in half and used in testing Dark Energon in the second episode by Megatron. His zombified appearance was found barely alive by Arcee before it was caught in the explosion of one of the Decepticons' hideouts in the same episode. Cliffjumper will only appear in flashbacks from now on according to an interview about the upcoming episodes. Since Cliffjumper will now only appear in flashbacks, Dwayne Johnson might return to voice Cliffjumper in the flashbacks. Cliffjumper has currently appeared in only one flashback with no dialogue.

* Tailgate (voiced by Josh Keaton) - A member of the Delta Team, and Arcee's original partner back on Cybertron. He was killed by Airachnid during the war when torturing Arcee for information. Arcee witnessed her partner's death and was severely traumatised by it, vowing revenge on Airachnid. While Tailgate's face has never been fully shown, his body (which is a recycled version of Cliffjumper's animation model) was shown in Arcee's flashbacks.
* Tailgate (voiced by Josh Keaton) - A member of the Delta Team and Arcee's original partner back on Cybertron. During Airachnid's interrogation on Arcee, Tailgate was killed by Airachnid in front of Arcee traumatizing her. Tailgate's face was never fully shown, but his robotic shell (which is a recycled version of Cliffjumper's animation model) was shown in Arcee's flashbacks.

* Megatron (voiced by Frank Welker) - The leader of the Decepticons, who transforms into a Cybertronian jet, similar to his alternate mode in Michael Bay's first live-action Transformers film. Originally naming himself Megatronus after one of the Thirteen Primes, he believes that Earth-style forms are beneath him and attempts to utilize the Dark Energon he acquired from his time in space to end the war with the Autobots in his favor. Megatron is far less tolerant of Starscream's treachery, purposely making Starscream beg for his life while he simply watched, and left Breakdown to die by MECH's hands for being captured by humans, although he is furious when he learns that Starscream has been captured by the Autobots. As told in Alex Irvine's Transformers: Exodus novel (which is set in the same franchise and continuity as Transformers: Prime), Megatron was once associated with Optimus Prime. He was as close as brothers to Optimus, in which they fought side-by-side. This lasted for a while, until Megatron's ideals were corrupted by the war, turning him into an evil tyrant. When Optimus Prime used the Matrix of Leadership's power to deactivate Unicron, it caused Optimus Prime to lose his memory before his was transformed from Orion Pax. Megatron takes the opportunity by telling Optimus Prime to retreat to the Decepticon ship. Megatron has Optimus Prime work on Project Iacon in hopes of cracking it. In the two-part episode "Operation: Bumblebee," Megatron and his forces were able to obtain two Iacon artifacts which includes an unnamed artifact that can emit an energy shield and the Forge of Solus Prime (a hammer that is one of the artifacts of the 13 Original Primes which will only work for a Prime).
* Megatron (voiced by Frank Welker) - The leader of the Decepticons, who transforms into a silver and purple Cybertronian jet, similar to his alternate mode in the first live-action Transformers film. Before the war, Megatron (then calling himself 'Megatronus' after one of the original thirteen transformers) and Orion Pax were actually good friends, but eventually Megatron's ideals were corrupted by the war, and he became an evil tyrant.

* Starscream (voiced by Steven Blum) - The second in command of the Decepticons who transforms into a silver-gray F-16 Fighting Falcon-like fighter. Unlike most of his persona and like Transformers: Energon and the live-action films, Starscream shows respect for his commander, but waits for a chance to kill Megatron and take over leadership of the Decepticons. Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons following Megatron's supposed demise in "Darkness Rising, Part 5", but he finds Megatron's barely living body in space. Starscream rips the shard of Dark Energon keeping his former leader alive to kill him, but Laserbeak (Soundwave's drone) appears, forcing Starscream to rush Megatron to sick bay. Megatron eventually returns and punishes Starscream severely for his assassination attempt. When Starscream pretends to want to defect to the Autobot side, it was learned by Arcee that Starscream killed Cliffjumper though Starscream claimed that Cliffjumper wasn't well and asked Starscream to put him out of his misery. Starscream leaves Megatron's command as an independent. Starscream has announced to have been always scientifically curious. A notable feature about this incarnation of Starscream is that his Decepticon insignia is red rather than the standard purple, mimicking the Shattered Glass scheme, and is the only Decepticon shown to have this color insignia. Starscream is scheduled to return sometime in the second season. In "Orion Pax" Pt. 1, Optimus Prime (who believes himself to be Orion Pax) asks why Starscream isn't on the ship after reading about him in the archives. Megatron claims that Starscream is dead. Starscream returns to the ship and infiltrates it taking down two Vehicons that were ordered to bring Starscream into custody should he ever return. While hiding from a Vehicon after stealing some Energon, he ends up running into Optimus Prime unaware that his memories are that of Orion Pax. In "Orion Pax" Pt. 2, Optimus Prime states that he is Orion Pax as Starscream states that he reminded him of someone he knows. Before Starscream can tell the truth, two Vehicons appear causing Starscream to go on the run and flee. Starscream ends up shot down by the Vehicons. When Megatron arrived and Orion Pax brings up his encounter, Megatron claims that Starscream is dead...dead to the Decepticon cause as Megatron claims that Starscream "sided with the Autobots." Starscream sends a message to Ratchet stating that he has information regarding Optimus Prime. Ratchet and Bulkhead find an injured Starscream who states that he'll tell them he knows where Optimus Prime is in exchange for being patched up. Starscream states that Optimus Prime is Orion Pax and that Megatron has led them into believing that he is a Decepticon. When asked about the Space Bridge, Starscream is shown to be surprised that the Space Bridge was finished without his supervision. He tells them that the Space Bridge is deep in an Energon mine. In "Operation: Bumblebee," Starscream finds M.E.C.H.'s hideout (after witnessing them steal Bumblebee's Transformation Cog) and tells Silas that the Transformation Cog will only work on Energon. Starscream gives Silas an offer to learn more about Cybertronian technology. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 2, Starscream leads Silas to an area which has fresh Energon. After shooting the Transformation Cog, Starscream got away and informs Silas that the Transformation Cog was destroyed in the fight. This causes Silas to begin extracting Starscream's Transformation Cog. After recovering, Starscream discovers that his Transformation Cog is gone and runs off upon seeing the Autobots.
* Starscream (voiced by Steven Blum) - The second in command of the Decepticons, who transforms into a silver fighter jet that resembles a F-16 Fighting Falcon. Like most incarnations of the character, he is cowardly, vain and treacherous, longing to over-throw Megatron as Decepticon leader. He assumes command of the Decepticons following Megatron's supposed death in episode 5, "Darkness Rising, Part 5", and is their leader for a large portion of season 1, at one point even attempting to kill the barely-alive Megatron when he finds him amongst the wreckage of their space bridge. Megatron soon returns though, and punishes Starscream for his treachery by severely beating him. Eventually, Starscream leaves the Decepticons and declares neutrality, aligning himself with neither side and refusing to serve anyone again. However, in "Operation Bumblebee, Part 1" he joins forces with M.E.C.H. and agrees to help them complete Project: Chimaera by offering knowledge and advice on Cybertronian technology.

* Soundwave - A Decepticon spy, who transforms into a blue UAV drone plane resembling a MQ-9 Reaper. He is a walking database full of information, and has the ability to hack into even the most advanced computer systems, as well as record and sometimes play back everything that is said and done on the Decepticon's flagship Nemesis. So far, Soundwave has never spoken and while he is able to do so, he chooses not to. He is loyal to Megatron and distrusts Starscream (though he does aid Starscream during his brief time as leader). Soundwave also has a sem-sentient, flying minion that deploys from his chest (paying homage to the cassette Decepticons from Generation 1) and transforms into his chest armour; this minion is called Laserbeak in the show's toy line, but has so far never been referred to by any name in the actual series.
* Soundwave - A member of the Decepticons who transforms into a blue MQ-9 Reaper-type aircraft. His arms become the wings, resulting in them being very thin. According to his bio, he can use "deployers" that come out from his chest (one of which looks similar to one of his Generation 1 cassettes) along with mechanical tentacles (used to hack or input information). He is loyal to Megatron and distrusts Starscream (though he pretends to aid Starscream and follows his commands), saving Megatron from Starscream on several occasions. Soundwave can speak, but he just doesn't choose to. Instead, he plays recorded information. In "One Shall Stand" Pt. 3, Soundwave objects to Airachnid's plans to carry on the Decepticon campaign without Megatron and manages to defeat Airachnid in combat. It has been said that Soundwave will speak at some point in the second season.
** Laserbeak - A minion of Soundwave that deploys from his chest; differently from other versions, he is no longer a tape but an actual chestpiece. Laserbeak first appeared in the series in "Darkness Rising, Part 3" where he attacks Agent Fowler. Laserbeak later appeared for a second time in "Masters and Students" as Soundwave sends him out to follow a untrusted Starscream, as he goes to the location of a signal possibly sent by Megatron (who was assumed dead). Soundwave later used Laserbeak to help in putting Airachnid back in place by shooting at her.

* Knock Out (voiced by Daran Norris) - The Decepticons' egomaniacal medic. He and Breakdown were called in by Starscream in a plot to steal an Energon Harvester. Despite being a medic, he admits he is better at breaking than fixing when Starscream called him in to help with Megatron's recovery. Starscream offered him the second-in-command post if he convinced Soundwave to let them deactivate Megatron, to which Knock Out tried to do but failed because of Autobot interference. Knock Out is fastidious with his body, as he once forced a driver off the road after he scratched his paint job, insulted Optimus after he ripped off his door, and attempted to decapitate Bulkhead after painting symbols on his body. His robot mode appearance is reminiscent of Beast Wars Terrorsaur. He transforms into a red sports car, a custom aftermarket Aston Martin DBS V12. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 2, Knock Out obtains an Iacon project that can emit an Energy Shield. He uses it to fight the Autobots after he and Breakdown unearth the Forge of Solus Prime.
* Knock Out (voiced by Daran Norris) - A Decepticon medic. He is egotistical and self-absorbed, taking pride in his own appearance, getting angry whenever his paint job is scratched or damaged in any way and not seeming to care much about medical work. He transforms into a red sports car that resembles an Aston Martin DBS V12.

* Breakdown (voiced by Adam Baldwin) - Knock Out's brutish, hulking assistant and a long-time rival of Bulkhead. In episode 16, "Operation: Breakdown", his right eye was removed by M.E.C.H. as they attempted to dismantle him, and since then he has worn an eye patch. He transforms into a blue, heavily-armored military truck equipped with a missile launcher turret on the roof.
* Breakdown (voiced by Adam Baldwin) - Knock Out's brutish assistant. Both Knock Out and himself were called in by Starscream to repair the heavily damaged Megatron and steal a Energon Harvester in Greece, he also shares a history with Bulkhead. His appearance may bear a strong resemblance to the DC Comics character Bane. After the events of "Operation Breakdown", in which Breakdown's right eye was removed by M.E.C.H. as they attempted to dismantle him, he now wears an eye patch. He attempts to redeem himself in "Metal Attraction", and instead of capturing the polarity gauntlet, is magnetised to Airachnid, whom he later becomes intrigued by. He transforms into a blue monster armored truck/van equipped with a missile launcher turret. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 2, Breakdown and Knock Out unearth an Iacon artifact called called the Forge of Solus Prime.

* Airachnid (voiced by Gina Torres) - A sinister, spider-like Decepticon who traumatised Arcee by killing her partner Tailgate right in front of her. After the war ended, Airachnid left the Decepticons and traveled the galaxy, collecting the heads of various alien species, but became stranded on Earth after her ship crashed. She later collaborates with M.E.C.H. in episode 17, "Crisscross" in a plot to capture Arcee by using Jack's mother June as bait to lure Jack and Arcee to M.E.C.H's hideout. After this, she eventually joins Megatron's crew on board The Nemesis , where she quickly finds herself in Megatron's favor for her intelligence and skill. Airachnid transforms into a black helicopter (a vehicle mode she acquires during a confrontation with Agent Fowler and his forces in "Crisscross"), and as well as this, while she is in robot mode the helicopter's rotors fold out and extend into spider-like limbs. She also has the abilities to shoot spider webs from her wrists, and produce a highly corrosive acid.
* Airachnid (voiced by Gina Torres) - A twisted, spider-like Decepticon who traumatized Arcee by killing her partner Tailgate in front of her very eyes. An homage to Blackarachnia. She left the Decepticons and became a collector of trophies from the heads of various species, and became stranded on Earth after an encounter with Arcee and Jack. She later collaborated with Silas and M.E.C.H. in a plot to take revenge on Arcee and Jack by using Jack's mother June as bait. She scanned a helicopter alternate mode in order to escape from Agent Fowler. Her "beast mode" is actually her second robot mode in which the rotors can be unfolded and extended to be used as spider limbs for crawling. Upon being forced to rejoin Megatron after being inadvertently captured by Breakdown, she quickly found herself in Megatron's favor for her intelligence and skill, and conspired to discredit Starscream. In the 3-part season final "One Shall Rise", Airachnid believes Megatron has abandoned them (and possibly been driven insane by his Dark Energon shard) and suggests they may need to consider in continuing on without him. Airachnid claims to the other Decepticons present that they have to prepare an exodus much to the objection of Soundwave who manages to defeat Airachnid. In "Orion Pax" Pt. 1, Airachnid was present when Megatron manipulates an amnesiac Optimus Prime (who has the memmories of Orion Pax following the fight with Unicron). When Arcee managed to follow some Vehicons on to the Nemesis to look for Optimus Prime, Megatron held Airachnid back and sent Soundwave to get her off the ship.

* Skyquake (voiced by Richard Green) - A Decepticon that was entombed in stasis on Earth for centuries. He is loyal to Megatron, completely denouncing Starscream's claim that he is the new leader and that Megatron is dead. Skyquake transforms into a green and red fighter jet resembling an F-35 Lightning II. He scans this form during a fight with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. He is eventually killed by Bumblebee and Agent Fowler, and his body is buried in the desert. In episode 15, "Shadowzone", after Megatron's return to power, Starscream attempts to reanimate Skyquake's dead body using a shard of Dark Energon in order to start off his own army of Dark Energon zombies. However, a ground-bridge malfunction leaves the zombie aimlessly wandering around in a parallel dimension.
* Skyquake (voiced by Richard Green) - A Decepticon that was entombed in stasis on Earth until released by Starscream. He is loyal to Megatron even though Starscream claims that Megatron is "dead." He transforms into an F-35 Lightning II-like fighter when Skyquake scanned agent Agent Fowler's fighter while fighting Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. He was shot down by Optimus Prime and Agent Fowler. Skyquake returns in "Shadowzone" where he is reanimated as a Terrorcon by Starscream using a piece of the shard of Dark Energon he stole from Megatron in order to turn Skyquake into his loyal Terrorcon servant, but ends up becoming trapped in a parallel dimension called the Shadowzone without an arm.

* Makeshift (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) - A Decepticon who is able to assume any form, provided that he has data on whoever he is impersonating. Makeshift's normal form is never actually seen, except for a dark shadow. After the Decepticons had captured Wheeljack, Starscream had Makeshift assume the form of Wheeljack in order to infiltrate the Autobot base. Wheeljack secretly planted a bomb on Makeshift causing him to explode on top of the Nemesis before he can tell Starscream .
* Dreadwing (voiced by Tony Todd) - A Decepticon who will be introduced in season 2. His animation model in the series is exactly the same as Skyquake's, only with a color scheme of blue, yellow and silver.

* Dreadwing (voiced by Tony Todd) - A Decepticon who is set to appear in the second season of the series. His design is similar to Skyquake, but with a different color scheme.
* Makeshift (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) - A spy who is able to assume any form, provided that he has information on whoever or whatever he is impersonating (a similar ability to Zartan from G.I. Joe, Mystique from Marvel Comics, and Clayface from DC Comics). Makeshift's normal form is never actually shown in it's entirety, a silhouette cast in shadows is all that is seen. He is eventually killed in an explosion (caused by a bomb planted by Wheeljack) in his debut episode.

* The Vehicons (Various Voices) - An army of identical Decepticon foot soldiers. Some transform into black and purple sports cars, and others into black and purple Cybertronian fighter jets. Unlike the Vehicon drones from Beast Machines, they are not mindless and appear to have personalities. They are adaptable to many different situations including airiel combat, security patrol and mining work.
* Vehicons (Various Voices) - Decepticon Drones who serve as foot soldiers for the Decepticons. They transform into either purple muscle cars or space fighters. The Vehicons had been misnamed many times as "Eradicons" by the closed captionings and "Decepticon Troopers" in the credits. Unlike the Vehicon drones from Beast Machines, they are not mindless and appear to have personalities. Vehicons are adaptable to many different situations, including flight modes, security patrols, and mine workers.
** Decepticon Miners - The type of Vehicons that are in the servant class.

* The Insecticons - A race of Decepticons that have insect-like alternate forms, and are one of only a few life-forms left on Cybertron after the war. These Insecticons are much more feral and primitive than in past incarnations, behaving more like predatory animals and reacting violently to the sight of anything they recognize as an Autobot. In episode 29, "Orion Pax, Part 3", while searching for Vector Sigma on Cybertron, Jack and Arcee are attacked by an Insecticon that was serving as a sentry for the Decepticons in the abandoned city of Kaon. This Insecticon transformed into a giant insect resembling a Hercules Beetle.

Humans
Humans
* Jackson "Jack" Darby (voiced by Josh Keaton) - A 16 year old high-school student and the main human protagonist of the series. He is introduced to the Autobots after accidentally geting in the way of a confrontation between Arcee and two Vehicons. At first, Jack is a reluctant hero and hesitant to get involved in the Autobots-Decepticon war, but eventually accepts them, forming a strong bond with Arcee, who acts as his protector.
* Jackson "Jack" Darby (voiced by Josh Keaton) - A 16 year old boy and main human protagonist of the series who accidentally encounters Arcee in her motorcycle form and enters into the Cybertronian War as a strong ally. He is a bit of a reluctant hero and is at first hesitant to get involved in the Autobots' war with the Decepticons. He forms a strong bond with the Autobot Arcee, who acts as his protector. Jack's behavior and personality have shown to be very similar to Optimus' back on Cybertron, according to Autobot medic, Ratchet. He has been chosen to be the protector of the Key to Vector Sigma when it was identified by Ratchet. Jack learns from Ratchet that Optimus Prime entrusted the Key to Vector Sigma in the event that Optimus Prime doesn't come back.

* Miko Nakadai (voiced by Tania Gunadi) - A 15 year old foreign exchange student from Tokyo, Japan. Miko is very adventureous to the point of being reckless, She is close friends with her Autobot guardian Bulkhead, and frequently follows him into dangerous situations, often with no regard for her own safety whatsoever. When the series was in early production, Miko's last name was originally 'Tezuka'.
* Miko Nakadai (voiced by Tania Gunadi) - A 15 year old female Japanese exchange student who seeks to be "in on the action" after seeing Arcee. Miko is very adventureous to the point of being reckless, causing nothing but headaches for Raf, Jack, and the Autobots. Later shows mechnical aptitude. She seems to like Bulkhead, her protector, the best and frequently follows him into dangerous situations.Miko still needs work helping the autobots. Miko's last name was misnamed at San Diego Comic Con 2010 as Tezuka, likely meaning that Miko's last name was changed during production.

* Rafael "Raf" Esquivel (voiced by Andy Pessoa) - A 12 year old computer whiz who is able to provide Ratchet the technical support for human technical devices that Ratchet cannot develop and uses his technical knowledge to support the Autobots in their fight with the Decepticons. Raf comes from a very large family, as he is hardly noticed, so he hangs out with Bumblebee. Every morning Bumblebee drives Raf to school. Ratchet comes to respect Raf rather than calling him a "fleshy", becoming actual friends who actively support each other in later episodes. He is the only human in the group who understands Bumblebee. In "One Shall Fall", Raf goes into critical condition after he is infected by Dark Energon after Megatron blast Bumblebee (who Raf was riding in at the time). Seeing Raf's condition makes Ratchet remember the line in the "doomday prophecy" from the Covenant of Primus, "the weak shall perish" and tells Raf to be strong, hoping that the prophecy isn't referring to Raf. Jack calls his mother to help Ratchet (who laments that he never took the time to study earth science or medicine, and had come to rely on Raf) save his life. The Dark Energon is removed via a transfusion of normal Energon (supplied by Bumblebee).
* Rafael "Raf" Esquivel (voiced by Andy Pessoa) - A very intelligent 12-year-old boy who is an expert with computers, often using his profound technical knowledge to assist the Autobots. Raf develops a close friendship with Bumblebee, being the only one of the three kids that can understand Bumblebee's electronic beeps and whistles. As the series progresses, Ratchet comes to respect Raf, after initially being hostile towards him and the other kids, with he and Raf becoming actual friends who actively support each other.
* Special Agent William "Bill" Fowler (voiced by Ernie Hudson) - A government agent who serves as a liaison between the Autobots and the government. He provides aid to the Autobots on many occasions, but often tells them off whenever they fail to keep their conflict with the Decepticons out of the public eye. Fowler is a capable pilot, able to fly both helicopters and jets (both regular and experimental), and occasionally providing air support for the more ground-based Autobots. In episode 28, "Orion Pax, Part. 2", Fowler is mentioned to have some connections to NASA.

* Special Agent William "Bill" Fowler (voiced by Ernie Hudson) - The Autobots' liaison to the outside world who only visits when there are "issues" like that of the Autobots failing to keep their fight with the Decepticons off the radar. Initially, he is quite hostile to the Autobots, but after they save him from the Decepticons, he warms to them, and provides aid to them on many occasions. Fowler is a capable pilot, able to fly both helicopters and jets (both regular and experimental). He has been shown to be able to out-fly a Decepticon and occasionally provides air support for the more ground-based Autobots. Both times, this has provided their enemies, Skyquake and Airachnid, with aerial vehicle modes. In "Orion Pax" Pt. 2, Agent Fowler is mentioned to have some connections to NASA.
* June Darby (voiced by Markie Post) - Jack's mother and an emergency room nurse. For the majority of season 1, she is unaware of the Transformers' existence, believing that Arcee is merely a normal motorcycle that Jack bought. However, this changes in "Crisscross" when she is captured by M.E.C.H and Airachnid, and subsequently saved by Jack and Arcee. She is shown to be very protective of Jack, Miko and Raf, strongly arguing against them being involved in the Autobot-Decepticon conflict on a number of occasions.

* June Darby (voiced by Markie Post) - June is Jack's mother and an emergency room nurse who was unaware of the existence of the Autobots. However, she has encountered Arcee in vehicle mode and believes her to be a motorcycle her son had bought with his own money (she allows him to keep the bike with the stipulation that he must always wear a helmet when riding). In "Crisscross," June becomes aware of the Autobots when Arcee, Jack and Agent Fowler rescue her from Airachnid and Silas. June being an ER nurse, has much more knowledge of Human emergency medicine than the Autobots, in which she helped Ratchet when Raf had got in contact with Dark Energon, making him very ill.

* M.E.C.H. - A terrorist organization that focus on utilizing machinery to start a Newer World Order. In their first appearance in "Convoy", M.E.C.H. attempted to steal a nuclear device called the D.N.G.S., only to be stopped by the Autobots. After their initial encounter with the Autobots, they have become primarily focused on the capture and study (via dissection) of any and all Cybertronians (both Autobots & Decepticons alike) in order to create an army of man-made Transformers under M.E.C.H.s control (a plan referred to as "Project: Chimera").

** Leland "Silas" Bishop (voiced by Clancy Brown) - The field commander of M.E.C.H. He often stays away from battles and confrontation with others, preferring to stand and spectate from afar. From M.E.C.H's first encounter with the Autobots onwards, Silas develops a fascination with Cybertronians and how they work, leading him to start Project: Chimera. While he has only been referred to as 'Silas' in the show so far, the packaging for an entertainment pack containing toys of Bumblebee and Starscream along with mini-figures of Silas and a M.E.C.H Trooper reveal that his real name is 'Leland Bishop'.

From M.E.C.H's first encounter with the Autobots onwards, Silas develops a fascination with Cybertronians and how they work leading him to start Project: Chimera In "Operation: Breakdown," Silas and M.E.C.H. capture Breakdown and experiment on him where Breakdown loses his right eye. Silas and M.E.C.H. get away when Starscream and the Vehicons come into view. In "Crisscross," Silas and M.E.C.H. encounter Airachnid where she proposes a deal with Silas which involves capturing June Darby in order to lure Jack and Arcee to them. Before getting away upon Agent Fowler and his men coming into view, Silas manages to obtain the data on how Cybertronians acquire a vehicle form. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 1, Silas and M.E.C.H. ambush Bumblebee and steal his Transformation Cog. While Silas was using it as part of a test on a prototype "Project: Chimera" robot, M.E.C.H.'s hideout is founded by Starscream who informs Silas that the Transformation Cog will only work with Energon as the Transformation Cog is actually a bio-mechanism. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 2, Starscream leads Silas to an area which has fresh Energon. Upon doing the transfusion of the Energon into the prototype, the base is attacked by Bumblebee. After Bumblebee is shot by Starscream, Silas orders a retreat telling Starscream to secure the Transformation Cog. After shooting the Transformation Cog, Starscream got away and informs Silas that the Transformation Cog was destroyed in the fight and states that they will obtain another Transformation Cog soon. This causes Silas to have his M.E.C.H. Soldiers extracting Starscream's Transformation Cog. While he has only been referred to as 'Silas' in the show so far, the packaging for an entertainment pack containing toys of Bumblebee and Starscream along with mini-figures of Silas and a M.E.C.H Trooper reveal that his real name is 'Leland Bishop'.
** M.E.C.H. Surgeon (voiced by Josh Keaton) - A member of M.E.C.H. who worked with Silas on "Project: Chimera." In "Crisscross," the M.E.C.H. Surgeon had attempted to dissect Arcee while Jack was trying to find and rescue his mother. In "Operation: Bumblebee" Pt. 1, the M.E.C.H. Surgeon assisted Silas into removing Bumblebee's Transformation Cog and experimenting on a prototype for a "Project: Chimera" robot.
** M.E.C.H. Troopers (Various Voices) - The foot soldiers of M.E.C.H.

* Sierra (voiced by Alexandra Krosney) - Jack's love interest, and is the head-cheerleader in their school. In "Speed Metal", she asked Jack for a ride, but turned her down only for Arcee to change his mind. In the season 2 premiere, she shows interest when asking Jack why he isn't around a lot outside of school. Then she is suprised when a girl calls (Arcee) to pick Jack up, to which Jack replies she is his mother.
* Sierra (voiced by Alexandra Krosney) - Jack's love interest (even though she hardly ever notices him) and the head cheerleader at their school.

He is the source of Dark Energon, a substance that can revive the dead as mindless Terrorcon zombies. After Megatron injects himself with the Dark Energon, he states it is as if he can hear Unicron's very thoughts which may indicate that Unicron may be influencing Megatron's actions. The physical body of Unicron first appears in "One Shall Rise, Part 1" with Unicron forming avatars based on his original body from rocks and soil. It is later revealed that when Unicron was defeated by the Thirteen Primes, he went under a deep hibernation, attracting rocks and debris over the millennia and eventually forming the planet Earth with the dormant Unicron as its core. Optimus Prime uses the Matrix of Leadership to deactivate Unicron regressing his memories back to Orion Pax in the process.

The following is a list of characters who are featured in The Hub's original computer-animated television series, Transformers: Prime.

Autobots

File:TFPPrime.jpg
Optimus Prime
  • Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen[1]) - The stalwart leader of the Autobots. As told in Alex Irvine's Transformers: Exodus novel (which is set in the same franchise and continuity as Transformers: Prime), Optimus was once associated with Megatron.[2] When it came to the awakening of Unicron, Optimus Prime uses the Matrix of Leadership's power to deactivate Unicron which also cost Optimus Prime his memories which caused him to think that he is Orion Pax again. Megatron takes the opportunity to have Optimus Prime to retreat back to the Decepticon ship.
  • Arcee (voiced by Sumalee Montano[1]) - A female Autobot who transforms into a motorcycle, like in most modern incarnations of Arcee.
  • Bumblebee - An Autobot scout who transforms into a yellow Chevrolet Camaro similar to the live-action films, except with a shaker hood.
  • Bulkhead (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson[1]) - A member of the Autobots who transforms into a giant green ATV pickup.
  • Ratchet (voiced by Jeffrey Combs[1][3]) - The Autobots' team medic who transforms into a white and red hybrid ambulance.
  • Wheeljack (voiced by James Horan[4]) - Bulkhead's best friend, who nicknames him "Jackie", from Cybertron, a former member of the Wreckers, and a master swordsman. Wheeljack is scheduled to return in later episodes.[4]
  • Cliffjumper (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) - Arcee's partner who transforms into a red Dodge Challenger decorated with bull horns on the hood. In the first episode, he is captured and killed by Starscream, and his body is sliced in half and used in testing Dark Energon in the second episode by Megatron. His zombified appearance was found barely alive by Arcee before it was caught in the explosion of one of the Decepticons' hideouts in the same episode. Cliffjumper will only appear in flashbacks from now on according to an interview about the upcoming episodes.[5] Since Cliffjumper will now only appear in flashbacks, Dwayne Johnson might return to voice Cliffjumper in the flashbacks.[6] Cliffjumper has currently appeared in only one flashback with no dialogue.
  • Tailgate (voiced by Josh Keaton) - A member of the Delta Team and Arcee's original partner back on Cybertron.

Decepticons

File:DarknessRisingMegatronStarscream.jpg
Megatron (left) faces Starscream (right).
  • Megatron (voiced by Frank Welker[1]) - The leader of the Decepticons, who transforms into a Cybertronian jet, similar to his alternate mode in Michael Bay's first live-action Transformers film. As told in Alex Irvine's Transformers: Exodus novel (which is set in the same franchise and continuity as Transformers: Prime), Megatron was once associated with Optimus Prime.[2] He was as close as brothers to Optimus, in which they fought side-by-side.
  • Starscream (voiced by Steven Blum[1][7]) - The second in command of the Decepticons who transforms into a silver-gray F-16 Fighting Falcon-like fighter. A notable feature about this incarnation of Starscream is that his Decepticon insignia is red rather than the standard purple, mimicking the Shattered Glass scheme, and is the only Decepticon shown to have this color insignia.[8] Starscream is scheduled to return sometime in the second season.
  • Soundwave - A member of the Decepticons who transforms into a blue MQ-9 Reaper-type aircraft.
    • Laserbeak - A minion of Soundwave that deploys from his chest; differently from other versions, he is no longer a tape but an actual chestpiece.
  • Knock Out (voiced by Daran Norris[1][9]) - The Decepticons' egomaniacal medic.
  • Breakdown (voiced by Adam Baldwin[1]) - Knock Out's brutish assistant.
  • Airachnid[10] (voiced by Gina Torres[11]) - A twisted, spider-like Decepticon who traumatized Arcee by killing her partner Tailgate in front of her very eyes.
  • Skyquake (voiced by Richard Green) - A Decepticon that was entombed in stasis on Earth until released by Starscream.
  • Makeshift (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) - A Decepticon who is able to assume any form, provided that he has data on whoever he is impersonating.
  • Dreadwing (voiced by Tony Todd[4]) - A Decepticon who is set to appear in the second season of the series. His design is similar to Skyquake, but with a different color scheme.
  • Vehicons (Various Voices) - Decepticon Drones who serve as foot soldiers for the Decepticons. Vehicons are adaptable to many different situations, including flight modes, security patrols, and mine workers.[12]
    • Decepticon Miners - The type of Vehicons that are in the servant class.
  • The Insecticons - A race of Decepticons that have insect-like alternate forms, and are one of only a few life-forms left on Cybertron after the war. These Insecticons are much more feral and primitive than in past incarnations, behaving more like predatory animals and reacting violently to the sight of anything they recognize as an Autobot. In "Orion Pax" Pt. 3, while searching for Vector Sigma on Cybertron, Jack and Arcee are attacked by an Insecticon that was serving as a sentry for the Decepticons in the abandoned city of Kaon. This Insecticon transformed into a giant insect resembling a Hercules Beetle.

Humans

  • Jackson "Jack" Darby (voiced by Josh Keaton[1]) - A 16 year old boy and main human protagonist of the series who accidentally encounters Arcee in her motorcycle form and enters into the Cybertronian War as a strong ally.
  • Miko Nakadai (voiced by Tania Gunadi[1]) - A 15 year old female Japanese exchange student who seeks to be "in on the action" after seeing Arcee.
  • Rafael "Raf" Esquivel (voiced by Andy Pessoa[1]) - A 12 year old computer whiz who is able to provide Ratchet the technical support for human technical devices that Ratchet cannot develop and uses his technical knowledge to support the Autobots in their fight with the Decepticons.
  • Special Agent William "Bill" Fowler (voiced by Ernie Hudson[1]) - The Autobots' liaison to the outside world who only visits when there are "issues" like that of the Autobots failing to keep their fight with the Decepticons off the radar.
  • June Darby (voiced by Markie Post[13][14]) - June is Jack's mother and an emergency room nurse who was unaware of the existence of the Autobots.
    • Leland "Silas" Bishop (voiced by Clancy Brown) - The field commander of M.E.C.H. He often stays away from battles and confrontation with others, preferring to stand and spectate from afar.
    • M.E.C.H. Troopers (Various Voices) - The foot soldiers of M.E.C.H.
  • Sierra (voiced by Alexandra Krosney[15]) - Jack's love interest, and is the head-cheerleader in their school.

Other characters and beings

  • Primus - The creator of the Cybertronian race. When the universe first began, Primus and Unicron battled for millennia with Primus eventually winning after creating the first Thirteen Transformers to help him. After Unicron was defeated, Primus then became one with the very core of Cybertron creating life through the Well of All Sparks. He later bestowed Orion Pax with the Matrix of Leadership, turning Orion into Optimus Prime.
  • Unicron[16] (voiced by John Noble[17]) - An ancient powerful being. In early episodes of the series, Unicron was mentioned a few times with his "rightful" name "Unicron the Destroyer". He is the source of Dark Energon, a substance that can revive the dead as mindless Terrorcon zombies. After Megatron injects himself with the Dark Energon, he states it is as if he can hear Unicron's very thoughts which may indicate that Unicron may be influencing Megatron's actions. The physical body of Unicron first appears in "One Shall Rise" Pt. 1 with Unicron forming avatars based on his original body from rocks and soil.
  • The Thirteen Primes[18] - Primus created the Thirteen Primes (the thirteen original Transformers who preceded Optimus Prime) eons ago to assist him in his battle against Unicron. With their strength, Unicron was defeated and cast out into the universe.
  • Terrorcons - the bodies of Cybertronians turned into mindless and aggressive zombies by Dark Energon. the remains of both Cliffjumper and Skyquake have been turned into Terrorcons throughout the course of the series, and Megatron has also used Dark Energon to revive a mass burial ground full of fallen Cybertronians in "Darkness Rising" Pt. 3 to demonstrate the substance's power. The term 'Terrorcon' is never actually used in the series, they are simply referred to as 'the undead' or 'zombies', but this term has been used in the show's toy line, for a toy of the zombified Cliffjumper.
  • Scraplets - A dangerous form of Cybertronian vermin. Scraplets consume all forms of metal but show a preference for living metal, particularly Cybetronians. They travel in large swarms and have the ability to hover through the air, but are vulnerable to extreme cold. Bulkhead showed particular fear of Scaplets citing having seen swarms of them consume the entirety of other Cybertronians. In "Orion Pax" Pt. 3, the Scraplets were shown to be one of the few life forms left alive on Cybertron after the war.
