The 95th Airlift Squadron (95 AS) is part of the 440th Airlift Wing at Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina. It operates C-130 Hercules aircraft supporting the United States Air Force global reach mission world wide.

History

The 95th participated in airborne assaults on Normandy, Southern France, Holland, Germany, relief of Bastogne, and transportation of cargo and personnel in European Theater of Operations and the Mediterranean Theater of Operations during World War II.

The squadron trained in the Reserve for airlift missions, 1952–1957 and for fighter-bomber operations, 1952-1957. It reverted to an airlift mission in 1957. The 95th flew airlift missions worldwide, including to Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War and to Southwest Asia during the Gulf War. It has also participated in training exercises, some involving the dropping or landing of airborne troops, and flew numerous humanitarian airlift missions.
