#willpower is the upcoming, fourth studio album by American rapper will.i.am, known for his work with The Black Eyed Peas. The album was originally entitled Black Einstein, but the title was changed after it was suggested the title could be deemed offensive.[2] Although the album's official lead single is T.H.E (The Hardest Ever), four collaborative singles, that originally appear on the featuring artist's album, are included. #willpower is due for release in Japan on February 14, 2012, and will be released in the United Kingdom on April 29, and in the United States pon April 30.[3]

Background

During the recording of The Black Eyed Peas' sixth studio album, The Beginning, band colleague Fergie rumoured in an interview that Adams was in the process of recording a new solo album, tentaively entitled "Black Einstein". Just days later, Adams confirmed the news, and announced that he had recorded certain material under the pseudonym Zuper Blahq.[4][5] It was announced by Adams in November 2011 that he had changed the title of the album from Black Einstein to #willpower, in order to prevent offence.[6]

Singles

  • "I'm In the House", a collaboration with Steve Aoki, was released as a single in January 2010, charting at #29 on the UK Singles Chart due to strong downloads.
  • "Dance", a collaboration with Natalia Kills, was released as a single in February 2011, peaking at #62 on the UK Singles Chart. The music video was directed by James Sutton, and features a cameo by Natalia.
  • In April 2011, Will recorded four songs for the soundtrack of the animated film Rio, in which he voiced a character. "Hot Wings (I Wanna Party)", "Drop It Low", "Real In Rio" and "Advice For The Young At Heart", featuring an array of artists including Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway and Tears for Fears. None of the songs managed to chart.
  • "Forever", a collaboration with Wolfgang Gartner, was released as a single in June 2011. The video premiered on August 26, 2011. The track peaked at #15 on the UK Singles Chart.
  • "T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)", a collaboration with Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger, was premiered in November 2011, and announced as what is intended to be the album's official lead single. Adams announced via his twitter that the video for "T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)" was filmed in LA.
  • "Great Times", an upcoming single from the album, had a video recorded in Brazil just after the filming of the video for "T.H.E (The Hardest Ever)".
  • "Party Like An Animal", a collaboration with Dutch singer Eva Simons, premiered at the HTC Beats Launch party in December 2011.
