William I de Cantilupe (d.1239) was an Anglo-Norman administrator.

He was born c.1159 in Buckinghamshire, the son of Walter Cantilupe, a minor landowner originally from the Channel Islands.

In 1198 he was Steward to John, Count of Mortain, the future King John. From 1200 to 1203 he served as Sheriff of Worcestershire and in 1204 as Sheriff of Herefordshire, establishing his family seat at Eaton Bray in Berkshire. In 1207 he was again Sheriff of Worcestershire, this time until the end of the reign of King John in 1216 and Governor of Kenilworth Castle. He also served a number of times as Sheriff of Warwickshire

In 1217 he was at the seige of Mountsorrel and the Battle of Lincoln, followed by military service in Wales (1228 and 1231) and Britanny (1230).

He died in 1239 and was buried at Studley Priory, Warwickshire. He had married Marcelin Braci and was succeeded by his son William II.
