Psychotic Youth was a Swedish punk rock band formed by singer, songwriter and guitarist Jörgen Westman in 1984 in Kramfors under the name Ratfink-a-Bobos. The other original members besides Westman Kent Sjöholm on drums, Anders Nordstrand on bass, and Danish-Swede Nils Lund-Larsen on guitar. Gunnar Frick who played keyboard joined in 1985. Psychotic Youth began as a garage rock band, influenced among others by Solna band The Nomads and the Malmö band Wilmer X. They later on incorporated various styles such as rockabilly, surf punk, metal, psychedelia and new wave / power-pop into their music.

Psychotic Youth released an initial flexi disc for Jörgen's fanzine Straight from the Grooveyard[1] and two full length CDs before moving to Gothenburg in 1988, where they were joined by guitarist Magnus "Rosehip" Nyberg, and releasing their third full-length album Some Fun produced by Chips Kiesbye from Sator and became a breakthrough for the band. During the 1990s, the band released four more studio albums on various record labels. The band also toured substantially and performed at many music festivals finding acclaim in Sweden and to some extent internationally.

The lineup of the band was not stable though as no less than fifteen members joined at various times with founder Jörgen Westman being the only permanent member. The group's guitarist Magnus "Rosehip" Nyberg who had joined the band in 1988 left in 1993 to form the hardcore band Mary Beats Jane. Gunnar Frick, the keyboardist and bassist who joined the band as an original member in 1985 was next to quit in 1995 after 10 years with the band. He later joined the Ray Davies Band.

The band split up in 1999, with founder Jörgen Westman forming the rockabilly band The Buckshots. In spring 2010 Psychotic Youth reunited with the original members of 1985 for some concerts.
