Matthew "Matt" Cardle, 27, from Little Maplestead, Essex.[1] is an English singer. On 12 December 2010, he won the seventh series of the ITV show The X Factor winning £1m and a recording contract to Syco Music owned by Sony Music Entertainment. His first single "When We Collide" will be released immediately after winning the contest.

Beginnings

Matt Cardle is a former painter and decorator from Little Maplestead, Essex. Born to parents David and Jennifer Cardle, he was diagnosed with Wilms' tumour, a form of cancer when he was a toddler. He recovered after one of his kidneys was removed at age 2.[2]
