Kirsty Jane Gallacher (born 20 January 1976 in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom) is a Scottish television presenter. She began her television career as a presenter on Sky Sports News.
Biography
The daughter of the former Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher, Gallacher was born in Edinburgh. When her father got the job of professional at Wentworth Golf Course, they moved south when she was 18months old. Gallacher and her younger brother and sister were raised on the Wentworth Estate, where their close neighbours included Bruce Forsyth.[1]
Career
Gallacher graduated from the London College of Fashion, and began work as a production assistant before moving on to the position of editorial assistant on Sky Sports.
She got her presenting break on Sky Sports News, and since then has been associated with many other sports shows such as 90 Minutes, Soccer Extra, Kirsty and Phil (on BBC Radio 5 Live) and Soccer AM.
From 2000 until 2004, Gallacher has hosted the Sky One show Kirsty's Home Videos, a satellite equivalent of ITV's You've Been Framed in which viewers send in home videos to be screened. In 2002, she presented the morning show RI:SE, and in 2004 began the show Simply the Best. She has made guest appearances on They Think It's All Over and A Question of Sport, and she is a regular guest on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.
Gallacher presented the new UK Gladiators on Sky One alongside Ian Wright. She has not returned for series two.[2]
5'5" tall with a buxom chest (although she has stated that she wishes her bust was smaller,[3][4]) she was a cover girl on the February 2001 issue of Maxim, and was a cover girl for FHM. She has often posed for photographs dressed only in lingerie, including customised brassieres and panties. She has appeared regularly in FHM's annual 'Sexiest Women' poll.
Reality TV
In 2005, Gallacher won the gold medal in the third series of the popular Channel 4 reality TV series, The Games. On 26 December 2005 she released a DVD "Body Sculpt With Kirsty Gallacher" in which she shows a variety of workouts. In 2006 she co-presented the fourth series of The Games alongside Jamie Theakston. She has also presented her own show on BBC Radio 5 Live. In July 2006, she co-presented the BBC reality TV show Only Fools on Horses.
Personal life
Gallacher and her fiance Paul Sampson celebrated the birth of their first child, Oscar in 2006.[5] They recently announced their engagement and will get married sometime in 2010. The couple are presently expecting their second child.
