The Association of National Park Authorities is a body that exists to provide the National Park Authorities of England and Wales with a single voice when dealing with government and its agencies. It also provides a focus for collaborative working and the sharing of best practice across the parks, attempts to increase public understanding of the statutory purposes for which National Parks exist in the UK, and promotes them as models for sustainable development.

Its small staff is managed by an Executive Committee made up of the Chairs of the individual National Park Authorities.

Launch on 30th July with sponsor Ben Fogle in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the aim is to build links between ethnic minorities and National Parks. Mosaic builds on previous work in this area and complements the Government’s Outdoors for All programme. Targeting 20 cities nationally, ultimately the aim is to ensure an additional 4,000 ethnic minority visitors have direct experience of national parks and reach some 40,000 people of ethnic minority communities with positive messages about trying the outdoors.[1]
