Arjun Makhijani, President of The Institute for Energy and Environmental Research, holds a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Over the past 15 years, Dr. Makhijani has produced many reports and articles on nuclear fuel cycle related issues, including nuclear weapons production, nuclear testing, and nuclear waste. He is the principal author of the first U.S. energy conservation study ever done, which was completed in 1971. He is the principal editor of Nuclear Wastelands and the main author of Mending the Ozone Hole, both published by MIT Press.[1] Dr. Makhijani is also author of Carbon-Free and Nuclear-Free (2007), which was the first analysis of a transition to a U.S. economy based completely on renewable energy, without any use of [[fossil fuels[[ or nuclear power.
