Canley Vale is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Canley Vale is located 30 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Fairfield and is part of the South-western Sydney region.
History
Originally the area was woodland sloping down to a shallow valley. In 1803, Governor King assigned 12,300 acres in this area to be rented out with funds supporting orphan schools in Sydney and Parramatta. Sir Henry Parkes, the father of Federation, who settled in a house east of the railway station he called Canley Grange. He named the railway station Canley Vale after his house and his birthplace, Canley Moat House at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, England. [2]
