Trudie Styler (born 6 January, 1954[1] in Birmingham, England) is an actress and producer.

Biography

A pupil at North Bromsgrove High School, Worcestershire, England, where one of her teachers was Clifford T. Ward. She went on to train at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and starred in various period BBC productions, including Poldark in 1977.

A friend of John Ritchie, after a phone call from Matthew Vaughn's godfather she became an executive producer of Guy Ritchie's films Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Along with Sting, she introduced Madonna to her second husband, Ritchie, and is godmother to the couple's son Rocco.

Styler lived with Sting for about ten years before marrying him on 20 August 1992. They have four children: Bridget Michael (a.k.a. "Mickey," born 1984), Jake (born 1985), Eliot Paulina (nicknamed "Coco," born 1990) and Giacomo Luke (born 1995). Styler openly spoke of her "swinging" sex life with Sting in a phone interview on Howard Stern's New York radio show. In the interview, Styler said she and Sting enjoyed wife-swapping and going to sex clubs, and said that she had also enjoyed the attentions of women. Whether Styler was serious, fantasising, or simply getting into the spirit of Stern's "shock jock" format, is uncertain.[2]

The couple own several homes worldwide, including Elizabethan manor house Lake House and its 60-acre country estate in Wiltshire, England, a country cottage in the Lake District, a New York City apartment, a beach house in Malibu, California, a 900-acre estate in Tuscany, Italy which produces organice honey and olive oil for Harrods, and two properties in London: an apartment on the Mall and an 18th century terrace house in Highgate.[3]

In May 2007 the couple's management company, Lake House Estate, was found guilty by a tribunal jury of unlawfully dismissing Jane Martin a 41 year old former cook.[4] The judgement was particularly critical of Sumner (married name of Styler). It said: 'Although Mrs Sumner tried to distance herself from various unlawful acts and have them carried out by minions, when the evidence is looked at holistically, her involvement is clear. She is without doubt the driving force manipulating others to perform her dirty work'.[5] £24,944 was awarded against the couple, and Lake House won the right to appeal against the ruling and the damages.[6]

She, Sting and a Brazilian Indian founded the Rainforest Foundation in 1989 to help save the rain forests.
