Johanna Olson-Kennedy is an American physician who specializes in the care of children and teenagers with gender dysphoria and youth with HIV and chronic pain. She is board-certified in pediatrics and adolescent medicine and is the medical director of the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.[1][2]

Olson-Kennedy has co-authored multiple studies on transgender youth.[3][4][5] She also has been interviewed for multiple news pieces.[6][7][8][9]

Controversy

In October 2024, the New York Times reported Olson-Kennedy did not publish a study on puberty blockers and has been withholding its results because she was worried that the results provide evidence for the critics of the currently available healthcare for transgender children.[10] The study was part of a larger NIH-funded project studying the impact of gender-affirming care on transgender youth.
