Hemiandrus is a genus of weta in the family Anostostomatidae. They are endemic to New Zealand and are known as ground wetas.
Ground wetas are deaf as they lack the hearing organs on their front legs which other weta genera have. They are the smallest weta, and as their common name suggests live in underground tunnels. Ground weta are mainly carnivorous. They look like tree wetas but are smaller and do not have the spiky back legs of the tree wetas. They are the smallest species of weta.
