The orthopteran family Rhaphidophoridae includes the cave wetas, which generally occur in Australasia (New Zealand, Australia, etc.) as well as cave crickets and camel crickets (occurring across several continents including Africa, Europe and North America).
The sixty species of cave weta are in the genus Pachyrhamma (syn. Gymnoplectron), and have extra-long antennae, longer legs, a passive demeanour and deafness. Cave weta may be active within the confines of their caves during the daytime.
