Tyler Jay Ablan Reyes (born April 29, 2009) is a Filipino basketball player who plays forward for De La Salle Zobel High School in the Philippines.

EARLY LIFE

Tyler was born in Ortigas, Pasig City and lives in Sucat, Muntinlupa City. He is the son of former University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) center Jay-R Reyes and grew up watching his dad play in the pro league. His mother is former UP volleyball player Jen Ablan-Reyes. He is the older brother of Tiffany Reyes, who plays for the Philippine National Team U18.

Growing up he started developing interest in basketball when he was 7 years old with the influence of his father but only started taking basketball seriously in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic.

CAREER

Standing at 6’8 (203cm) Tyler is often regarded to play as center similar to his father who stands 6’7 (200cm), but his skills are more suited to the forward position. He is regarded as an agile rebounder and help defender with good fundamentals of footwork, passing and post scoring. Later on in De La Salle Zobel, he also developed his midrange and three-point shots. He often played in leagues older than his age category especially with the need for his presence in the paint.

Tyler played in the Junior Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (JrMPBL) and the University of the Philippines Athletic Association (UAAP) Juniors Division representing De La Salle Zobel in 2024. He also played in the United Basketball League (UBL), City Hoops Tournament 18U, Philippine Athletic Youth Association (PAYA) 16U and PRISAA 3x3 U17 in 2022.

Internationally, he played in the 2023 International Youth Basketball Championship (IYBC) in Thailand and was also selected in the 2023 Arizona Select Basketball (UA Circuit future 14U).
