Zainal Arifin Mochtar is an Indonesian lecturer at Gadjah Mada University.
Early life
Zainal was born on 8 December 1978 in Makassar, South Sulawesi.[1] He went to Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and graduated in 2003, and earned his master degree from Northwestern University in 2006, followed by PhD from UGM in 2012.[1]
Career
Zainal started his career as a member of task force for preparing the corruption crime court law in 2007 and served as Director of Advocacy at the Anti Corruption Study Center and Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University, from 2008 until 2017.[1] He became a constitutional law lecturer at Gadjah Mada University in 2014 and then served as Member of the Audit Board of the Financial Services Authority from 2015 until 2017, followed by Member of Commissioners of Pertamina from 2016 until 2019.[1] In 2022, Zainal was appointed as a member of the Non-Judicial Resolution Team for Human Rights Violations.[1] He was also appointed as Deputy Chair of the Periodic Tax Oversight Committee from 2023 until 2026.[1]
