The 2024 election for the Finnish delegation to the European Parliament is to be held on June 9. All 15 of Finland's members of the European Parliament are up for the election for the next five years. The whole country functions as a single electoral district.[1][2]

After the decision of the European Parliament approved in September 2023, in total twelve member states were given extra seats in the parliament. This affected Finland that got one extra seat, meaning whose total amount of seats will be 15 after the election.[3]

Candidates and right to vote

People who have the right to vote in the election, include all Finnish citizens who are at least 18 years of age by the day of the election. Moreover, people who meet the following conditions are eligible to vote in Finland:[4]

  • citizens of other EU member states who have not lost their voting right in their home state
  • has notified the Digital and Population Data Services Agency about their intention to vote in Finland no later than 80 days before the election
  • has had a domicile in Finland for at least 51 days before the election OR are employees of an international organization located in Finland or an EU organization, or are a family member of such person living in Finland
