Glaukopis: pismo społeczno-historyczne is a right-wing Polish journal on history.
History
The magazine is published in cooperation with the Department of Polish Studies at The Institute of World Politics.[1] Wojciech Muszyński had been the long-standing Editor-in-Chief.[2] In 2021, the magazine entered into a list of scientific journals approved by the Government of Poland.[3]
Content
The magazine features antisemitic content, praise of Polish fascism from the prewar period, and support for all flavours of nationalism. The magazine has run covers with Francisco Franco, the Myślenice pogrom organizer Adam Doboszyński, pagan artist Stanisław Szukalski, and on the "horrors" of Freemasonry.[4]
Reception
Andrzej Żbikowsk believes that the publication's primary aim is to rehabilitate the wartime activities of the National Armed Forces unconditionally.[5] Andreas Kahrs — a scholar on the far-right — characterizes the journal as a right-wing source; he notes that its staff historians had associations with the All-Polish Youth, a far-right Catholic ultranationalist organization.[6] Jan Grabowski finds the journal to cater to the Polish far-right and deems it to be an unreliable source; he highlights that authors affiliated with the journal had republished various works by European fascists, including Léon Degrelle, Julius Evola, and Jan Mosdorf.[7][8]
