If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
Uncontroversial technical requests
- D.J. Peterson (currently a redirect to D. J. Peterson) → D. J. Peterson (move · discuss) – Move over redirect; spacing to comply with MOS:SPACEINITS. McPhail (talk) 17:19, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- A.J. Petrucci (currently a redirect to A. J. Petrucci) → A. J. Petrucci (move · discuss) – Move over redirect; spacing to comply with MOS:SPACEINITS. McPhail (talk) 17:19, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- As The World Falls Down (currently a redirect to As the World Falls Down) → As the World Falls Down (move · discuss) – Per MOS:CT, the word "the" is never capitalized in song titles. snapsnap (talk) 14:48, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Oruro, Bolivia (currently a redirect to Oruro) → Oruro (move · discuss) – The city is clearly the primary compared to the department. People searching for the celebration probably aren't just typing "Oruro" anyway. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 23:58, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- Oruro → Oruro (disambiguation) (move · discuss) – See above. Krisgabwoosh (talk) 23:58, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
Administrator needed
- Draft:Moviestarplanet (currently a redirect to MovieStarPlanet) → Draft:MovieStarPlanet (currently a redirect instead to MovieStarPlanet) (move · discuss) – The 'MovieStarPlanet' page has been locked/protected since 2013. The correct capitalization is needed in the title of the draft. Spiderwinebottle (talk) 16:39, 2 August 2022 (UTC) Spiderwinebottle (talk) 16:39, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Template:tbullet (currently a redirect to Template:Template example bullet) → Template:Template example bullet (move · discuss) – Req move of protected template per WP:TG (
Template function should be clear from the template name, but redirects can be created to assist everyday use of very popular templates
). — Guarapiranga ☎ 02:35, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Dances in Iran (currently a redirect to Iranian dance) → Iranian dance (move · discuss) – Makes sense to move this to the collective noun 'dance', modified by its ethnic adjectival component, common to the likes of Armenian dance. Iskandar323 (talk) 11:32, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, I've had a look, and there doesn't seem to be a convention for how to name these articles. I've seen at least 3 formats: "Dances in X", "Xn dance" and "Xn dances". Would it be worth having some kind of discussion to come up with a standard? Dr. Vogel (talk) 11:51, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- @DrVogel: Perhaps, since all sort of work, but concision definitely lends towards "Xn dance". Perhaps a more classic example would be "Irish dance". There's also Bulgarian folk dance, Turkish folk dance, Belarusian traditional dance, and so on and so forth. There are a few kinks in terms of naming and categories to be worked out in this area - though perhaps a bigger one is whether the word folk/traditional need be used at all. Iskandar323 (talk) 13:02, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- This should go to a full RM as per WP:PCM, especially given Talk:Dances in Iran#Article name - Persian dance?. -Kj cheetham (talk) 13:37, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

- Information engineering → Data engineering (move · discuss) – Currently "Data engineering" redirects to "Information engineering", but nowadays "Data engineering" has become the main term in industry and academia. The "Data engineering" page has been a redirect to "Information engineering" since 2004, except once when someone added some text but it was quickly reverted. Dataflow123 (talk) 22:08, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
- There is also the unrelated Information engineering (field). Dataflow123 (talk) 22:11, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
- That article has been moved a few times before ([1]) so warrants a full RM. -Kj cheetham (talk) 16:54, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Bala Kanda (currently a redirect to Balakanda) → Balakanda (move · discuss) – reason for move 2409:4072:6C84:3ECF:B4D4:A598:838A:7761 (talk) 11:55, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- No reasoning is given for this. It was previously discussed (or an attempt made on the talkpage) but no consensus either way. Needs a Discussion >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 21:31, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- Has it been discussed more than Wikipedia_talk:Hinduism-related_topics_notice_board/Archive_6#Spelling_of_Balakanda? If not I'd be inclined to say it should be reverted as the most recent move being undiscussed, then a full RM opened if needbe. -Kj cheetham (talk) 14:50, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
