Newmania is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Zingiberaceae.[1]

Its native range is Vietnam.[1]

The genus name of Newmania is in honour of James Walton Groves (1906-1970), who was a Canadian mycologist.[2]

The genus was circumscribed by Ngọc-Sâm Lý and Jana Škorničková in Kew Bull. vol.14 on page 444 in 1960.

Mark Fleming Newman (b. 1959) British botanist, who worked at the Botanical Garden in Edinburgh, specialist in Zingiberaceae.
