- North Korea suspends participation in multi-nation talks to discuss its arms program and officially admits to developing nuclear weapons.
- Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen of Denmark (pictured) is reelected for a second term in the 2005 Danish parliamentary elections.
- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of Israel declare a truce in the Al-Aqsa Intifada during a four-way summit at Sharm el-Sheikh which also included Jordan and Egypt.
- Dame Ellen MacArthur breaks the non-stop solo circumnavigation sailing record.
