iTunes Live: London Festival '09 is a six-song EP by alternative rock band Snow Patrol, released digitally on 9 July 2009 on the iTunes Store. The songs were taken from the band's set at The Roundhouse in London as part of the iTunes Festival 2009. |
==Background== |
Snow Patrol headlined the July 5 performance at The Roundhouse of the iTunes Festival 2009. They were supported by Animal Kingdom and Silversun Pickups. It was reported, since the festival was free, many non-fans had come to attend the show. Many of these left after the band got through "Run" and "Chasing Cars", and they were left to play to a much smaller crowd (less than 70% of the capacity) as they neared the end of their set, especially the sixteen-minute "The Lightning Strike". The festival's ticket policy was thus criticized. |

It had earlier been announced that all performances from the month-long festival would be made available for download exclusively on all 22 iTunes Stores. The subsequently released EP on 9 July contained songs taken from the band's set. However, the release omitted several songs from the 17 song set. The songs that didn't make the release were — "If There's a Rocket Tie Me to It", "Chocolate", "Hands Open", "How to Be Dead", "You Could Be Happy", "Run", "Somewhere a Clock is Ticking", "Take Back the City", "The Lightning Strike" (second and third parts), "Open Your Eyes", "Set the Fire to the Third Bar" and "You're All I Have". Two songs from the set were later shown on the band's Facebook page as highlights. |
