- 09:1909:19, 29 January 2024 diff hist +1,963 Beta Lyrae Looked further into the etymology and usage of سلياق and شلياق, filtering internet searches by time led to this finding. The earliest online Arabic and Persian sources respectively always appear to use the former and latter spellings respectively. However, I have only been able to find primary sources on this matter. I have not been able to find any secondary sources on the etymology of Sheliak, nor have I been able to find the source of R.H. Allen's original 1899 "Sheliak" transliteration. Tag: Visual edit

This might be an issue of language shift over time, or the original author engaging with a particular dialect. Regardless, I thought it of interest to note the more widely referenced and used spelling in Arabic. Tag: Visual edit
