Robespierre never sentenced anyone to death. It wasn't his job. He did not control the Tribunal, period. From the things that get put here you'd think he did the entire revolution on his own and everyone else just sat back and watched. Tag: Visual edit

In general I'm not sure we should be using the term 'reign of terror' as an objective descriptor of the 1793-94 period- the term was popularized after the fact and has a definite political purpose and connotation. - 03:1203:12, 13 May 2023 diff hist +243 Louis Antoine de Saint-Just added a ref for danton's corruption accusations, the article made it sound like he was arrested for anti-terror sentiment; this was not the case. pretext or not, he was actually accused of actual crimes and there is enough evidence that to this day his innocence remains in doubt. fixed some other minor stuff as well. this article has something of a negative slant towards SJ, and I tried to take out loaded language when possible. - 02:0902:09, 5 May 2023 diff hist −591 Georges Couthon R, C, and SJ did not form a "triumvirate" in the traditional sense of the word (a group of three that wielded supreme governmental power). The reference applied only confirms the second part (that they were all executed on 10 Thermidor). Also the "amoral bloodthirsty dictators" line is unnecessary and too biased. Tag: Visual edit
- 02:0202:02, 5 May 2023 diff hist −74 Committee of Public Safety →Committee of discussion: Use of terms such as "autocracy" and "dictatorship" are factually inaccurate. The CSP was subordinate to the Convention, so unless you want to claim 600 people were "dictators", this doesn't make sense. Tag: Visual edit
- 01:5801:58, 5 May 2023 diff hist −138 Antoine Quentin Fouquier-Tinville →Grande Terreur: For goodness' sake, please quit putting your personal opinions in Wiki voice! Couthon is not factually confirmed to be "a man of merciless fanaticism" (look at what happened in Lyon!), nor was the lack of amendments to the Law of Suspects due to "Robespierre's despotism wresting every bill he wanted", as there were in fact many bills Robespierre wanted that didn't pass. Tag: Visual edit
- 01:5401:54, 5 May 2023 diff hist +43 The Mountain →Factions and prominent members: I don't think that Fouche, Tallien, BV, or Barere can be considered Robespierrists, granted that they were all vocally anti-Robespierre. Also I had to remove some loaded language. "Robespierre's authoritarian policies" is inaccurate because a) they weren't just Robespierre's policies, and b) authoritarianism wasn't really a concept at that time. Tag: Visual edit

- 05:3605:36, 18 December 2022 diff hist −1,924 Maximilien Robespierre Removed some incredibly loaded language and shoddy sources. Seriously, Fouche's memoirs are NOT a good source to be using here. You will see that I left much of the anti-Robespierre commentary intact in a bid for fairness; hopefully the pro- and anti-Robespierre commentary will resolve into a somewhat neutral portrayal. - 05:1405:14, 29 July 2022 diff hist −177 Committee of Public Safety Robespierre was not the "leader" of the CSP. Nor was he secretly "pulling the strings" of it- how was he to do that when half the time he didn't even attend meetings? This is a Thermidorian fabrication, disproven many times, and has no place in an academic source. Tag: Visual edit
