  • 09:2909:29, 1 January 2023 diff hist −3,048 Rangitoto Island→‎Geology: This section has been corrected and made consistent with all the other sections that now correctly document our current knowledge of Rangitoto volcano. I have removed several early ARC and Nat Geographic references that are now slightly out of date and slightly wrong and deleted reference to our 2022 paper and added it to the end of eruptive history section. The whole section is now much simpler and up to date.

  • 09:1109:11, 1 January 2023 diff hist +279 Rangitoto Island→‎Eruptive history: The 2020 Devora reference is a preliminary presentation by a student at a workshop and does not contribute to the argument. A previous citation from Prof Cronin et al 2018 at Devora has been deleted and is the reference that fits the first part of this sentence and has been reinserted - it is a key ref to the change of opinion of the University researchers. A further red herring reference and discussion has been deleted and reference to additional studies added.

  • 07:3407:34, 1 January 2023 diff hist +710 Rangitoto Island→‎Structure: The writer of the section on the moat-like collapse feature has confused the actual scoria cone crater with the moat at the foot of the scoria cones and I have corrected this. I have improved the description of the black lava flow field and the lava tubes and replaced the nevbulous reference to the length of the Rangitoto lava caves with a more authoratative academic reference. I have added several sentences at the beginning to describe the gross structure of the volcano.
  • 07:1107:11, 1 January 2023 diff hist −619 Rangitoto IslandThe age of eruption given in this section is inconsistent with that given in the Auckland Volcanic Field site and later in this site. The age given was also no longer supported by the latest research. The two references cited for the age give different ages to that written and have been deleted here and replaced with two more recent references, which will be further supported by my changes in the sections below.
  • 01:2301:23, 1 January 2023 diff hist −604 Auckland volcanic field→‎Dangers: This last paragraph is incorrect and shown to be so in a number of subsequent studies. A description explaining how one scientist misinterpretted the drillhole evidence in Lake Pupuke and on Rangitoto is better placed under Rangitoto Island rather than here in the main body on the field itself.
  • 01:1001:10, 1 January 2023 diff hist +153 Auckland volcanic fieldThe heights for all the volcanoes are actually elevations above sea level. The "heights" previously assigned to the explosion craters and surrounding tuff rings were all mixed up - some were the elevation of the crater floor (partly filled with sediment), some of the elevation of the tuff ring and some not at all. I have standardised the heights as being the highest part of the volcano (usually part of the tuff ring) built by the volcano.
  • 00:3700:37, 1 January 2023 diff hist 0 Auckland volcanic field0.55 yrs is the calibrated radiocarbon age BP, where BP = before 1950. Thus the real age now is 620 yrs old (before 2020) in line with the column header.
  • 00:3500:35, 1 January 2023 diff hist +54 Auckland volcanic fieldI have shifted the image attributed to Mt Richmond to its correct location McLennan Hills. It is wrongly identified in teh Auckland Art Gallery repository and they have not corrected its location on-line despite my having informed them several times. See my field guide p. 229.
