The city is named Veles before the slavs. The word does not come after the slavs. Anyway this city has no connection to Cumans. It was inhabited by slavic majority and Albanian minority. It is from 16th century. 0 connection to cumans. The name probably comes from slavs from the word godfather. But this is PROBABLY.
