The bulk of the game involves puzzles solving, much moreso than simple exploration as the game is quite linear. It's also implied that the goal of the game involves gleaning an explanation for the game's world, when this isn't the case at all. The point is far more focused on simply surviving the world, while the exact nature of it is left to the player's interpretation.
