- 2 March 1998 – Data sent from the Galileo spacecraft (pictured) indicates that Jupiter's moon Europa has a liquid ocean under a thick crust of ice
- 10 March 2000 – The technology heavy NASDAQ Composite reached its highest ever value of 5,048.62, before going on 10% of its value in 10 days as part of the start of the dot-com bubble
- 12 March 2013 – Seagate Technology announced it was the first disk manufacturer to have cumulatively shipped two billion hard drives

- 10 April 1861 – Governor of Massachusetts John Albion Andrew signs a charter incorporating the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
- 15 April 1912 – The RMS Titanic, at the time the world's largest ship, sinks after hitting an iceberg the night before in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history
