Would anyone have any objections to changing the CAT:CSD link to:
I think this would make a lot of us more efficient. --BigDT 01:24, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. —METS501 (talk) 01:53, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone like WP:SDL as much as I do, and would prefer to add a link to it? Resurgent insurgent (as admin) 06:47, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Complicated requested edit
[edit]{{editprotected}} The line "This page has a talk page" should be hidden for pages in the User: namespace, as User talk: namespace pages aren't deletable under WP:CSD#G8#CSD G8. I would do it myself if I knew how, but I don't. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 15:42, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Hey, I added a link to SCV in, as I often go and clear the page out, and this saves a few clicks and keystrikes. Anyway, if anyone objects, feel free to revert me. Thanks! GlassCobra 22:26, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
I just added Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/old as I frequently clear out that subpage. Saves me 3/5 clicks, or typing afdo. (Similar to Glass Cobra's rationale above). Thanks, Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 17:25, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Change FULLPAGENAME to $1
[edit]{{editprotected}}
Because MediaWiki has integrated this message into Special:MovePage. After you successfully deleted existing page and moved, this message will become "Special:MovePage" has been deleted. Remember to change link for deleting and salting as well. Vinhtantran (talk) 05:51, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- Done Happy‑melon 10:49, 25 May 2008 (UTC) Looks alright on the pages I just CSDed. Happy‑melon 10:49, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Updated link
[edit]I updated the text viewed on the deletion log ([[WP:CSD#G8|CSD G8]] -
to [[WP:CSD#G8|G8]]:
) so that it looks the same "format" as if it had been selected on the deletion page (because it automatically adds G8 as the reason). If anyone feels this wasn't a good idea, feel free to revert me. jj137 (talk) 21:24, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Portal deletions
[edit]I added some code so that if you delete a main portal page, you will get an infobox showing you the portal's subpages and talk subpages (if any). You only get this message on the main portal page, eg Portal:College football, not a subpage, eg Portal:College football/Selected article. The reason for this change is that all portals have lots of subpages and very few admins think to check for them. It is worth considering always displaying the list of subpages for all deletions - I can't imagine very many occasions when you would delete a page but not want to delete its subpages too. --B (talk) 04:09, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
Why do we initially collapse the talk page?
[edit]In the interest of efficiency, it would be nice to be able to save the click. What I would love to have if possible would be for the talk page to be automatically shown and then a keyboard shortcut that I can hit in lieu of clicking the delete key. When you're doing backlogs, having the extra clicks for deleting the talk pages makes it a much longer process. --B (talk) 02:26, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- FYI, I've been WP:BOLD and made this change for files, which is the only one I was especially concerned with at the moment. --B (talk) 13:19, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- FWIW, I like having it collapsed. There's valuable stuff on the bottom of the page and sometimes the talkpage is big. Personally, if there's a talk page I won't be deleting the page itself without first reviewing the talk, so I rarely click "show" because by that point I already know what I'm doing with it. I should add that I have no problem with your edit, though, as especially for files I'm sure it's easier. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 16:18, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, I can see that having it collapsed for non-files is more useful. For files, it's a little different because almost always the talk page is just Wikiproject tags or vandalism - maybe 1 in 10,000 of the ones I have deleted have meaningful content there and if I'm bulk deleting 100 orphaned fair use images or images with no source, saving the mouse clicks is a useful thing ... not so much for articles. --B (talk) 16:32, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- My thoughts exactly. ~ Amory (u • t • c) 17:33, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
- Did you know that there is a MediaWiki:Filedelete-success that is used for files? I was going crazy trying to figure out why this wasn't working ... I feel stupid now. --B (talk) 12:38, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Well at least you've got the solution now! ~ Amory (u • t • c) 13:32, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Weird glitch?
[edit]After deleting Book:Copyright etc basic concept 0203, instead of the normal post-deletion screen, I got the folllowing:
"Book:Copyright etc basic concept 0203" has been deleted (view | salt). See the deletion log for a record of recent deletions. #ifeq:Book:Copyright etc basic concept 0203
Return to Main Page.
I subsequently deleted the talk page (which was not linked, although I think it ought to be), then undeleted the page and deleted it again. This time, I got the normal post-deletion message. Any ideas what could have caused this behaviour, and where we can fix it? —Kusma (t·c) 20:58, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
