This article is about urban built-up areas within boundaries chosen by the Office for National Statistics. For a list of towns (boroughs), cities and wider areas, see List of districts in England. This list of built-up areas for England was compiled by the Office for National Statistics after the 2021 UK Census.[1] Built-up area boundaries are defined and named by the ONS to correspond with settlement patterns as apposed to municipal charters or unparished areas.[clarification needed]
