Jeremiah Smith (born November 29, 2005) is an American football wide receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes.[1] He attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory school in Florida, and currently attends the Ohio State University. Smith was the #1 overall recruit of the 2024 recruiting class.[2]

Early life and high school

Smith grew up in Hollywood, Florida and attended Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School.[3] He had 31 receptions for 667 yards and seven touchdowns in his sophomore season.[4][5] Smith caught 58 passes for 1,073 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior.[6] He also won the FHSAA Class 2A state championship in the 110 and the 400-meter hurdles during his junior year.[7] During his senior season, Smith was named All-American, and won the All-American Bowl Player of the Year Award.[8]

Smith was rated a five-star recruit.[9][10] He is the number one overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the 247 Sports Composite 247Sports.com.[11] Smith committed to play college football at Ohio State over offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, and USC.[12][13]

College career

In his college debut against the Akron Zips, Smith recorded six receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns, leading the team in yardage for that game in a 52–6 win for Ohio State.[14]

Personal life

Smith is the cousin of NFL quarterback Geno Smith.[15]
