Reduction[edit]

A request to reduce the resolution of this image has been posted on the image page. My view is that any further reduction would make it almost impossible to resolve the detail which is commented upon in the article. Given that the original painting was nearly two metres on a side, this is already very low resolution. I will not be actioning the request. hamiltonstone (talk) 22:38, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The purpose of the image is to display it in the article. The article uses a file with 220 × 204 pixels, but this page uses 480 × 445 pixels. Apparently, the one who inserted the image in the article thought that there was no need for the remaining pixels (since they're not used in the article), so it should be safe to remove them. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:51, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what you're talking about Stefan. The article uses a thumbnail: the purpose of which is to allow someone to click on it to see the image properly should they wish. Full resolution is almost never used in an article, thumbs are the norm, so i don't understand your reasoning. hamiltonstone (talk) 22:55, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
