Disputed violation of the fair use criterium No. 1[edit]

This image, created in 1954 by the well-known Slovenian painter Tone Kralj, is the best known and the most recognizable of the representations of Martin Krpan.[1] It is part of a series of illustrations that are discussed in the article and are so well known that they cannot be replaced with a free equivalent of the same encyclopedic value.

In any case, the story was first illustrated by Hinko Smrekar, who died only in 1942 so less than 70 years has passed since his death meaning there are no free equivalents available except for something user-created that would not deserve discussion in the article and would also not have the same encyclopedic value. --Eleassar my talk 07:01, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
