Please do not use the Mercator Projection... PLEASE!

Seconded. Looks awful. Wow. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.97.176.165 (talk) 15:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There ought to be a much bigger version of this. I mean a bigger version viewable in any browser ... (and not an external SVG viewer that allows zooming) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.177.44.159 (talk) 17:01, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Does this help? 62.145.19.66 (talk) 12:56, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why, oh why, does this map use the awful Mercator projection?! Slac speak up! 04:59, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Someone should really replace this map with a better one. I mean Greenland is as big as Africa. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.248.105.2 (talk) 19:14, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One more vote for Robinson Projection. Using the Mercator Projection in this way distorts the size of the entire planet to make Europe look as big as possible. Moreover the creator of the map is clearly attempting to make Europe look as central as possible by cutting off Antarctica (which would be equally distorted into something larger that Eurasia it it were included). Since the point of the image it to show the EU's position in the world, it should be relative to the rest of the world, not distorted to make it look more impressive. Greenland should be about the size of Algeria, not Africa. Scandinavia should be the size of Anatolia, not the Arabian Peninsula. And Svalbard should be the same distance from Finmark as Madagascar is from Mozambique. If anyone has forgotted what the world proportions actually look like, then look at a globe; Europe is the smallest 'continent'. Let's replace it with the globe divided into triangles. 122.105.221.214 (talk) 10:39, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why Venezuela is marked as member of EU?[edit]

Why Venezuela is marked as member of EU?\Theta (talk) 12:00, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's not. French Guyana is, since it is not a country but an overseas province (a.k.a.DOM-TOM) of France and thus part of the EU. /Coffeeshivers (talk) 20:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Borders[edit]

Why are there no country borders on this map? It could be quite misleading to someone who doesn't know it is comprised of separate nations. Taifarious1 10:18, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
