On The Scarlet Letter article page, an anonymous user claimed copyright of this image on the grounds that an individual owns the physical painting. There is no legal basis for that that I am aware of. In any case, despite the fact that this talk page is not really the place to discuss copyright, it seemed more appropriate to note the claim here than in the body of an article that contains this image.
