Description
English: The U.S. Navy traning carrier USS Sable (IX-81) launching a Naval Aircraft Factory TDN-1 drone while steaming astern off Traverse City, Michigan (USA), during flight tests on 10 August 1943. Another TDN-1 is parked near the ship's island. Note the dense coal smoke issuing from Sable's smokestack, and what appears to be a Beechcraft SNB twin-engine airplane approaching in the left distance.
