Summary

Description
English: Preliminary design showing an architectural section of the Salon d'Oppenord of the Palais-Royal in Paris. Located at the west end of the main wing of the part of the Palais-Royal formerly known as the Palais Brion, the room had oval ends, one of which pierced the external wall, projecting over the rue de Richelieu and attracting much attention. The room was also referred to as as the Laternon, because of its top lighting, or the Salon d'Angle, because of its location at the right-angle intersection of the corps de logis with the Gallerie d'Énée. It is readily apparent on the 1739 Turgot map of Paris (see File:Palais-Royal on the map of Turgot 1739 - Kyoto U.jpg). This section of the Palais-Royal was demolished c. 1790 to make way for the construction of the theatre which later became the Comédie-Française.
