DescriptionRide with windthrow, Thorndon Park, Essex - geograph.org.uk - 1512314.jpg
English: Ride with windthrow, Thorndon Park, Essex The trunks lying across the ride are the victims of the great storm of late 1987. The Essex Wildlife Trust Essex (who manage the centre) and Essex County Council (who manage the park) have a policy of leaving the storm damage untouched as much as possible (consistent with safety). Some of these trees have been like this for over two years. Some of the timber from the windthrown trees were used in the centre itself.
