English: Plaque on the wall of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Mitchley Road, Tottenham London N17.
The ten year old boy commemorated was Ralph Joscelyne. In 1909 he was helping to deliver bread when he was shot by armed robbers trying to escape Police pursuit. This followed a failed attempt by the two robbers, who had attempted to steal the wages being delivered to a rubber factory then in Chesnut Road N17. Chased by the police, they ran through Scales Road to Mitchley Road where they fired on and injured several people; killing Ralph Joscelyne. A short while later they shot and killed Police Constable William Tyler. After further pursuit both gunmen died. One apparently, shooting himself when surrounded by Police. The attempted robbery became known as "The Tottenham Outrage". _______________________________ § Google Street View shows the church and the blue plaque. § The Latin: "Justorum animae in manu Dei sunt" - The souls of the righteous are in the hands of God.
