Summary

Description
English: Pál Joensen is the best Faroese swimmer until now (2010). He has gained incredible results, despite the fact that he must train in a 25m swimming pool, because there is no 50 meter pool in his country, the Faroe Islands. He won silver in 1500 m Freestyle at the European Swimming Championships 2010 in Budapest. Before that he won gold in the FINA World Cup 2009 in Moscow and silver in the FINA World Cup 2009 in Stockholm and in the FINA World Cup 2009 in Berlin. In 2008 Pál Joensen won three gold medals at the European Junior Swimming Championship 2008 in 1500m, 800m and 400m Freestyle. At the Island Games 2009 in Åland Islands, Finland, he won 6 gold medals and sat Faroese records. He hold the Nordic Record in the men's 1500m Freestyle on long course. This photo was taken in Vágur, his hometown with 1350 inhabitants in the island Suðuroy (the southernmost of the 18 islands of the Faroes). I took this photo when he came back after winning silver in Budapest. There was a welcome party for him in Tórshavn and in Vágur.
