Summary

Description
English: Newfield Hall, Calton The land here was part of the vast Lambert estate, which passed by marriage to Sir John Middleton in 1702, and was sold in 1727 to Oliver Marton. In 1782 the manors of Calton. Airton and Hanlith were sold, then sold on again minus the Newfield farm. In this way the big estates were gradually split up. Newfield was later purchased by William Alcock, a banker from Skipton, who built this mansion in 1857. It was purchased by the Holiday Fellowship in 1933.
